More Joys...

These little birds were a gift from Amanda a long time ago... they STILL make me smile every time I look at them.  The stack of quotes is a favorite souvenir from an adventure while visiting the Little Men & Co. in Virginia... and, how could those beautiful pink blossoms not bring a smile?  Joy.

The Solid Square by Marinke Slump gave a perfect weight to this cotton/silk/rayon blend to go on this slipcovered chaise lounge.  It sits in the sunroom with the birds... and quotes... and flowers... and yarn... and patterns...  a nest of sorts.   Afghan details are here on Ravelry.

Marinke, also known as Wink, was a wonderful blogger/crocheter who lost her battle with depression in 2015.  She is still missed.  I thought of her often doing these squares.

Our community/city, Hideaway, Texas, has Park Parties almost every Friday night when the weather is good.  Music, food, friends, fun.  Ten couples/folks go in together and host the party with each one inviting ten couples/friends; each party has a different "theme".  The theme for this one was Send in the Clowns and our friend, Betty, was one of the hosts.  So. Much. Fun!

And, oh, the fun with these two Littles!  We crafted away the whole Saturday afternoon!  On top of all the crafting, they made cupcakes for their Momma and cheesecake for their Daddy (birthdays)!

At the end of a LONG day, we were "chilling" and watching Trolls... for the humpeenth time... I started knitting.  Then, Miss B asked if she could knit, too.  OF COURSE!  Let me find you some yarn and needles!  So, she worked along for a good bit and, then...  Karsyn asked if she could knit, too.  OF COURSE.  More yarn and needles.

I have to say there were a lot of "I have a problem, Noni"s.  LOL!  But, these girls caught on so fast!  I was amazed.  B is only 5 and she was knitting away.  She ended up with a blanket for her Barbie.  Karsyn's project is still in progress and I look forward to her working on it some more on her next visit.  What a treat!

Next morning, we met these two for brunch and birthday celebrations!  Zack's was the 16th and Candice's was the 21st.  I can hardly believe my BABY is 35.  I still remember holding him for the first time like it was yesterday.   Sweet memories.

We enjoyed a weekend of making more sweet memories to add to the collection... How fast time goes by...

"Try to make at least one person happy every day.  If you cannot do a kind deed, speak a kind word.  If you cannot speak a kind word, think a kind thought.  Count up, if you can, the treasure of happiness that you would dispense in a week, in a year, in a lifetime.  " ~ Lawrence C Lovasik

The blanket looks so good along with your sunflower pillow. Talk about smiles. And you got the girls going with the needles--good for you! What a positive example you're been for them--they have been watching! And the park parties sound a ma zing! Community at its finest.

Oh, I could really spend time on that chaise with a cup of tea and a book! That looks like SUCH a nice spot.

Happy birthday to your "littles" --- now all grown up!

Miss B and Karsyn are precious. How fun to spend the day crafting! I love that they wanted to knit with you. That is a pretty corner in your sunroom. The little birds are so sweet beside the colorful bouquet of flowers. I adore the colors in your throw. I love the idea of the couples' party and the theme each time. I wish you a delightful Friday! xo
