You Call That Vacation?!
Okay... so it's been a couple of years since Noni and Pop Pop have had an "adult vacation". Most of our time away is spent connecting with family... which we dearly love. However, occasionally a couple needs to have some time away to relax and reconnect with each other.
That said, I'm not sure who is due the brunt of the blame... me, for having the idea to go to golf school for vacation... or Evan, for scheduling us in the three day boot-camp-of-a-golf-school we barely survived. At any rate, it was pretty brutal... our instructor (in the middle, with another classmate on the left and Pop Pop on the right) worked us until E.V.E.R.Y. muscle, tendon and bone ACHED. We had bandaids with Neosporin and/or tape on multiple fingers of each hand. Advil was ingested four tablets three times a day. Oh, my!!
Sadly and very much to our intense, but extremely kind, instructor's dismay, I never achieved a correct impact position (apparently critical to hitting a great golf shot). Evan had it for awhile... then lost it. Crazy how that can happen... but, I saw it with my own two eyes.
We had originally intended to participate in the golf school... come away with a new and improved game... then, leisurely play our way home, stopping off on courses along the way...
Instead, we tucked tails and hauled our weary, beaten down selves straight home... to sit on the couch for a whole day... licking our wounds and our bruised egos... just trying to recover. Now, we are back up and ready to attempt again... to achieve the ever-elusive perfect impact position. Ever-elusive... meet the ever-hopefuls... LOL!
Rest and relaxation... well, no. But, we did have a good time. And, we laughed a lot. Something I treasure about our relationship. Plus, after such a grueling vacation, returning to our normal schedules seems restful and almost appealing!!
Glad to be back...

Fun with Friends!

We had such a fun time Sunday afternoon at the Marvin Methodist Golf Tournament! Milha, Johnny, Evan and I managed to have eight birdies amongst ourselves! Pretty impressive in this crowd, I'll tell you! Everyone made a birdie and everyone had a good time.

Plus, we won our flight!

Plus, I got closest to the pin on Number 13... not unlucky for me at all on this day! That was the easiest birdie we had. =)
All that and a very enjoyable afternoon with my husband and friends... we needed that. Thank you guys for a great time.

Golf Camp
View from the tee box on Number 2 at Pine Needles Golf Course.
I just got back from golf camp. This was my second year to attend Peggy Kirk Bell's Golfari for Women. She was under the weather this year and her presence was sorely missed. But, let me just say, the rest of the staff did a wonderful job of continuing on! By the last day, I told the ladies at my table during lunch that I was sure I would slap the next person who told me what to do about my golf swing! LOL. Now, I was exaggerating. I would never slap a one of the most gracious and competent teachers I have ever had the privilege of working with... my point is that you are worn out... had it to here... finished... by the end of the week. And, for just a few hours in the midst of the week, I actually felt the golf swing like it is meant to be... oh, how elusive it is... but, I felt it! There is hope of finding it again! My deepest gratitude to Mrs. Bell's wonderful staff.
Lined up at the start of the day... This place is nothing if not organized.
BIG buckets of balls... for the end of the day... when you STILL want to work on your swing... and they are available to give you MORE help... lol...
We listened...
We took notes...
We watched... We wished...
We tried...
We had moments...
Here is Peggy Kirk Bell... the Matriarch of Pine Needles... her daughter, Bonnie and son-in-law, Pat worked hard with us all week... We were glad to see her on the last night.
These are two wonderful ladies from D.C. Joanne, on the left, is an energizer bunny! Judy, on the right, was one of my partners for the week. She is a great little golfer! I was so happy to be paired with her!
