Persimmon and Picot

Persimmon and picot.
Fall and femininity.
Things that remind me of my daughter...

Soft, sweet, sensational.
Steel, sharp, savvy.

I'm sending 74,417 stitches, each wrought with love.  I hope you throw it on with your oldest pair of jeans and a soft, snugly t-shirt... and that you will feel your mother's love wrap around you--comfortable, old and always there.

Happy Birthday, daughter of mine.  I love you to the moon and back.

Just Sit There and Look Pretty

I have neither the lens nor the skill to do this site justice in a photograph.  Walking in darkness at least five mornings a week, I top the hill on Bois D'Arc... and, just over the crest of my favorite historic shopping strip... I catch sight of the glowing steeple of First Presbyterian Church.  It just sits there and looks pretty...

The steeple rests atop this magnificent old structure, but I hardly ever even notice her... so enamored I am with gazing at the beacon which is her peak.

It is a well-tended landmark... a point of inspiration to at least one of us who walks in darkness.

This shot is REALLY poor... but, I love the cross on the top and I had the very good fortune of crossing paths with a real photographer not too long after I attempted these shots. I'll be signing up for one of his classes come spring.  I can't wait!  Maybe in a year or so, I'll be able to get the shots that convey a fraction more of the beauty I am blessed to enjoy.

I am linking here to Debi's Emma Tree blog, where she is doing a Just Sit There and Look Pretty post.  She is a wonderful writer and artist, please stop by and say, "hi," if you have a chance.

Breakfast Date

One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is enjoy an early morning bike ride with my Beloved to breakfast at The Egg and I, The Eatery or sometimes IHOP.

I love how we pass by flags lining the streets for every patriotic holiday; how the birds are busy singing back and forth: and, how the morning air is a smidge cooler and so wet with humidity you could almost drink it.

I love laughing and talking with my husband while sipping on an Arnold Palmer (Lemonade and Iced Tea)...  deciding what morning treat we will enjoy... and soaking up the scents of breakfast dancing through the air.

From our favorite seats, we can watch over Miss Daisy while she waits. =) Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and do at least one thing that your really enjoy!

Fortune Cookie Wisdom and Peeks...

A little fortune cookie wisdom for the day:
Every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it.  Autograph your work with excellence.

I remember having that very talk with one of my contractors one day!  LOL.  I do believe it!

Sneak peeks at projects on my needles...

I'm going to really have to get busy to finish up the three things (no peek on one) I have in my line-up!
