Band of Angels, Wavy Windows and Juneberry Shawl...

Last week a Band of Angels appeared on my doorsteps... with lunch and help to undo the-big-mess-of-the-failed-sale-of-our-home.  One of the angels, Kim, said that she believes this the way the church was meant to operate... to help one another in need...  They certainly ministered to my need and were such a blessing... Not just in a physical way of helping... but, even greater for me, an emotional and spiritual help... a lifting and holding up... an encouragement... a hope...

So, Tallulah (our home) is back on the market.  Not quite as well dressed as she was before.  She's sporting what I have dubbed "Dorm Room Chic", complete with packing box end tables plus a few extra packed boxes in the corners.  And, I'm just going to go with that for awhile.  I'm not ready to consider moving all the rest of the furniture back just yet (all set up at one of the Old Girl apartments).

Who knows what will transpire.  The folks we have a contract with on their home were kind enough to extend our contingency on the sale of Tallulah.  Day by day.... day by day...

Until the next step, I am going to enjoy the views out my wavy windows...

Because, if there is one thing that I've learned in the past few years, it is that you need to enjoy what you have... savor it... because each season is fleeting... way more than you might imagine...

We take things for granted... the special becomes ordinary... And, then its season is over...

I really can't remember when I finished this shawl.  I bought the yarn in May while in Austin for a wedding.  I do remember I was finally able to block it Monday afternoon... ;)

The pattern is Juneberry by Jared Flood and the yarn is Brooklyn Tweed Shelter.  I love the textures!

I am incredibly blessed by God's love and the amazing people He has placed in my life... I am so grateful for the thoughts and prayers and words and acts of encouragement... the goodness... the generousness... the kindness... from near and far...  My heart is full.

Thank you... thank you... thank you... blessings ~ tanna

I truly believe what you give to others comes back 10-fold. Always a reason behind everything; we just need to believe and keep the faith. And that shawl....it is so beautiful...and it looks very cozy. Blessings to you. You are a dear. Susan

your church is serving well., as it should be. I'm so glad you had help with such an emotional adventure.
I must say, tho, Tanna, your Brick Street Bungalow is SO lovely, I wouldn't be able to bear leaving it.
What an emotional roller-coaster you must be on. I'd have hubby build a garage right there instead.
Life is Full of Surprise

What an exciting but stressful time you've had! I hope you'll soon be less sorry to see Talulah go and love the next one just as much if not more. She is indeed a beautiful home. Your shawl is gorgeous, as always! You are blessed to have such a good church family to take care of you.

Tanna, what a stressful time for you. I have been offline foursome time, and so, out of touch. How kind of your church friends to provide just the sort of support you needed. We have been through a similar situation - such an upheaval, but you will get through it to fall in love with another house and the. Go on to make it your own - and the house of memories for those beautiful grandchildren.

Tanna, the shawl is amazing. You never cease to make me wonder how do you do that? I'd be so lost knitting a project like that. I had stitches giving me trouble just knitting the first round on circulars the other night! When the timing is right your house will sell and you will move on. Your new home will be beautiful. As Ever, Annette

Tanna, you are blessed and you have reminded us all to remember that we are blessed, too. I know you are so frustrated, and I can not imagine leaving that beauty of a house will be easy, so prolonging it makes it so much worse, but you have a beautiful attitude, beautiful people to help you through this and a beautiful future.
Hugs,
Meredith

Catching up Tanna and so sorry about the fall through on the sale! OH. I agree that the ladies descending on you to help you is how THE CHURCH should operate!!! Many hands!

Now the shawl...oh it may be my favorite as of YET! The textures are amazing and the color! I just love that color...what do you call it...it HAS to have a lovely name!

Cindy said...

Oh dear Tanna, I am so glad that you have a group of women near you who truly care about you. God is good. And I agree, the church is meant to minister to each other first, then the unbeliever. That's the way I read it at least.
Hugs, cindy

Catching up woht your posts, Tanna! I did not know you were selling your house. I know how stressful that is. If it is any consolation to you we were selling our NYC home around the time of Hurricane Sandy, and while we did not have damage the buyers were just not showing up. We finally decided we had to pack up to leave, and had boxes everywhere, when a couple came and made an
offer -- I hope that will happen for you! Good luck!
