Little Glimpses...

Fresh mulch, new pittosporum shrubs (to replace dead ones), and on-the-verge azaleas... along with a few pansies.  Spring is ALMOST HERE!!

I still have to trim up my poor rosemary... it has some unattractive dead spots.  I'm a little worried it is too shaded for the rosemary to thrive in this spot.  Still, I love its scent by the front door.  The pansies will be replaced as soon as all frost possibilities are past.  Overall our front yard is starting to look pretty good, especially considering where it started.  The back... it is still in nightmare phase.  LOL!  I DO have ideas for it.  ;)

Note to self (and others):  Be very careful where you get down on your hands and knees (I was looking for a golf ball that went into a row of hedges... if you can find your ball, no penalty stroke; if you can't, one stroke penalty).  My knee was solid black with ants in just seconds and I received these bites in spite of some VERY frantic swatting/wiping away.  NOT worth the attempt to save that stroke!  ha!

Isn't that the truth?  Yep.

Paleo/Primal with the hubby.  He's dropping weight... me, not near so quickly!  But, what's not to like about steak and green beans with bacon?  ;)

The evenings on the deck have been so beautiful!  Coolness... and the smell of the warmth lingering as the sun goes down.  I love that earthy spring smell.

One of my favorite things is catching "little glimpses" that make me smile.  I caught the glimpse of morning rain... shining on the deck... plants soaking it up... Yep.  Made me smile.  And, give thanks.

I'm enjoying your return back to blogland!
You inspire me to get outside and dig around.
Ouch! The ant bites look horrible.

I still have a few little fire ant bumps from being bitten over twenty-five years ago in Charleston. Ouch!
Your gardens are looking good. Here, rosemary will only survive if brought in for the winter. Of course, it doesn't do very well in the house.

Best,
Bonnie

Whoa. Those bites look nasty :(. My husband would get those kind of reactions from ant bites when we pbriefly lived in Denton Texas many years ago. I did not react!! So you know they always bit him and not me ;)

Your new home looks absolutely lovely! I am envious! Ouch, those bites! And my goodness, that steak meal looks good enough to die for! I have been doing Blue Apron and eating quite well, not to mention dropping some weight. But I have recently given it up since my life has become overly busy with my renovation and up coming move. No time or energy for gourmet cooking and saving some money by eating much simpler meals. Best!

Spring has indeed sprung. We went from winter to cold to spring and much warmer temps within a week. Summer and the heat will be here all too soon and I'm really not looking forward to that. As for the bites, ouch! There are some at the garden when I'm yarnbombing the trees that manage to get all over me. I'm constantly stomping my feet as I stand there trying to finish the task. No more crawling through bushes. :)

Oh goodness, those fire ants really did a number on you. Bless your heart. I send ((hugs)) your way sweet friend. Of course, the crocheter in me was eyeing up your granny squares nearby. I was going "Oh your poor leg, and ohhh what do we have here? Granny squares". Some people are drawn to shinny objects, I, apparently, am drawn to yarn! :)

Your flower beds and walkways look so pretty. :) I love the view from your deck. I think there i something magical about the silhouette of trees with the back drop of the setting sun beyond the horizon.

Blessings to you always sweet friend. ((hugs))

Your yard looks so neat and tidy and spring-ish! We're still under feet of snow here with more on the way. Loving it, but finding it difficult to garden after living in Texas all my life. It's definitely different. I wonder how many things I will get to come back in the spring? Your leg! UGH! And ouch! Definitely not worth it.

Thank you for pointing out to delight in simple things. It rained here last night and just in time to wash away the first pollen. Seeing your signs of spring and your delight in it is heart warming. The rain on the deck and your description of the earthy spring smell made me smile.
Have a wonderful day, Tanna.

I need to get outside! Your home is so beautiful and your descriptions are glorious. I miss having a screened in porch and big trees, azaleas blooming everywhere - heavy sigh. So sorry about your ant bites - those look very painful. I guess you were wearing a skirt and not pants on the golf course - or else you may have had to drop your drawers! Darn ants - hope you heal quickly.

Your yard looks great...at least the front! haha. We are still dipping into the 20's at night so you are way ahead of us!

Your poor knee! Looks infected...maybe a soak in a tub of epsom salts.

Love that quote. :)

Hi! I am so happy you are back and I am back! I just spent a lovely half an hour or so catching up. I won't take the time to comment on each post, but I did read and enjoy them each and every one. Love to you!

Ugh, are the bites from red ants or black ones? We have horrible red ants here, they have the same venom as wasps. My whole leg would have blown up if I had that many bites. No golf ball is worth that.

Those vicious ants! I hope those bites feel better soon. Your front garden is looking so pretty and the steak plate looks way too yummy to be depriving in any way. My son felt really well when following that.

Your "little glimpse" made me smile too. I know just what you mean and I hope I will always delight in them too, and remember to give thanks for them!

So jealous of your great weather and opportunity to garden until I saw the ant photo. Hope your knee is all recovered by now!

Hi Tanna, it looks so pretty around your home! The weather here is warming up again after another round of winter temps. I'm so ready to plant my flower pots! It's a bit early yet, though. The steak dinner looks delish. I need to look into the Paleo way of eating. Sorry the ants took a liking to your leg! That looks painful.
Take care and have a nice week!

Oh my--I've never seen so many ant bites! Take care they do not get infected.

Your garden looks so pretty and already thriving. Ours is still asleep although some daffodils are beginning to poke our =t of the ground.

It seems men always lose weight faster than women--not fair! That steak looked delicious!

I love your glimpses of Spring. We have temps below freezing here today. The bunnies and the birds are around, but the flowers are suffering. I am trying to lose weight too. It is very slow going.

Oh those ant bites! How horrible that must have been! Your gardens look lovely. We're a long way from that up here. The steak and green beans looks wonderful. Tonight's supper for us is cream cheese chicken and salad. I need to get back into the meat/salad routine and drop the winter pudge. LOL Have a great weekend!
