Echo Beach and Finding Home...

I started this wrap last August at Myrtle Beach and was getting near the end this year in Gulf Shores... It pretty much marks the beginning of the decision to sell our Bungalow and move...

Its finish marks FINALLY beginning to make this new house home... That has not come easily to me this time.  When we moved in the Bungalow on the 21st of December 2004, we had a tree up by bedtime on the 23rd.  That has been the way I nest... until this time.

The breakfast nook... that's my spot, my moment, of finally starting to nest inside this house (the porch had been my refuge/nest/homing spot).  This rustic little table was at an antique store in Tyler called Silver Lining.  The owner, Carla, said people often asked her if there was an "s" on the end of Lining and she always was happy to respond, "No, there is only one Savior and He is the Silver Lining."  I loved that... and I love this little table.  Makes me smile.

I've left areas in the hutch for my silver domes... for when I ever get to the boxes they are still packed inside.  The two yellow chairs were up-cycled by my daughter-in-law, mother of the Viking Princess, Candice.

It is good to finally get one spot to feel like home.   I hope to share some more spots soon.  ;)

And, I finished this sweater, Hitofude, last night.  I can't wait for it to dry!

Hi Tanna,
I suspected that this move had been a difficult one for you.
For I know the love that you had for Tallulah and you had put your heart into her.
It' nice to see that thrift table, and the warm glowing light; a cozy and welcoming spot.

You are truly making your new house into a home!

I hope and pray that you come to love the Big Bah Nilla too.

May your day be blessed.

Love all the colors of the scarf...really beautiful. Your decorating tastes are very similar to mine and I really like what you shared today. Looks very welcoming and warm. You will get more and more comfy in your new home as you continue to make all the adjustments that make it your own.

How your Little B has grown in this year, from baby to sweet little girl. It looks like it was a fun birthday. And it was good to hear the nesting has begun again … little by little.Your wrap is gorgeous!

Having one room organized/complete gives energy in getting to the finish line. I hope the somewhat daunting task finds some happy moments along the way!
I like your charm . . .

I know this is probably going to sound crazy, but here goes: Do you know that we have lived in this house for 18 years, and though I have done a lot of nesting, there was only ONE room that felt like home to me until a few years ago? It's true. I guess you could count the girls' rooms and two more, but those were their rooms and not a place I would do any dwelling. Our master was the only one. The rest were either too much like the former owner or too much like the trends or too much like pushy friends. After all those years, I finally began making it say and feel *Debbie* after two comments I read in blogland. Maybe I should yak about that on my OWN time instead of yours. Ooops.

I love what you have done to nest. My favorite part of all of this is the picture/spot with the sign that says "Because Nice Matters".

Your breakfast nook looks like a great place to greet the morning, Tanna. I love that shawl and its fabulous colors and can't wait to see the sweater when it's dry. That pattern is in my stash, but it looks hard. Is it?

Your home is beautiful. I knew it would be wonderful once you had a chance to make your mark. So lovely - just like you. I'm having a bad day and knew if I came over here you would make me smile. Sometimes things seem so hard. I get overwhelmed easier these days and people are mean. Thanks I feel better :)

Dear Tanna, Feeling secure and "at home" is not easy. It will come with time and prayer.
I am still not finished unpacking from the storm. I simply cannot bring myself to do it. I suppose someday I will.
I do like your spot to call your own.
Blessings dear. Catherine xo
