Just One of the Reasons...

Last week, I discovered this exquisite little bird with a hand written note... perched on a shelf with two of my other favorite little birds... just waiting... for me to find after the Little Men and Co. visit.  Thoughtfulness is just one of the many reasons it is so easy to love my daughter, Amanda.  Expression of love for one another is one more.

It is a precious gift to let someone know that they are loved.  I am ever humbled and ever grateful for more love than I could ever deserve.  I hope today you might seek that opportunity to let someone know how precious they are to you.  Thank you, Amanda.  I love you dearly... to the moon and back... bigger than the sky.

Well, my knitting is not off to a good start this year!!  I was so excited to begin a new project yesterday!  Clicking along... enjoying the feel of this wonderfully soft merino wool... Liking the way things were shaping up.... or so I thought!

This is how the little lace peak should look... then, there is this:

All I can tell you is that they unravel much faster than they knit up!!  LOL!

I'll be starting OVER this evening.  Bummer.  Oh, well, it goes fast with this big gauge!  Wish me better luck on round two!

Blessings ~ tanna

PS to my knitting buddies... I don't have a way to e-mail some of you back, but YES, I plan on being there for coffee, at least for an hour (I have a prior commitment at noon).  Yea!!

Dear Tanna, It is so heartwarming and makes life so worth while when daily routine is rewarded with these expressions of love.
You are very worth this love that is expressed for you, never think you are unworthy. You have given your heart and it is appreciated over and over.
Your knitting project is beautiful. I love the color. I would never have noticed the mistake, but you know it is there so I understand you starting over. Have a blessed and beautiful day. Catherine xo

The color and softness of this wool is beautiful, and I look forward to seeing more photos as you unravel parts and then knit more.
What a dear little bird and note.

My daughter is very loving that way too. It's those little things that mean the most. So thoughtful! What a wonderful gift (the bird and your daughter!) Happy knitting - looks like it will be lovely.

What a sweet message to find...and made even sweeter when it's a complete surprise like this. I love birds and have lots of them around my home.

I also love the colour of this wool and it looks like a lovely pattern. Can't wait to see what it evolves into.

Your lovely daughter, Amanda, learned all about love from you!
It's pretty cool that you can mess up in knitting and you can still start over and not have to throw anything away.
Good luck!

Oh what a sweet surprise! That little bird was just made for your shelf.....and to have the note, awww!

That had to hurt, unraveling...
Another great pattern.

Hey Tanna, I can see things have changed over here too. Your blog looks great. That little birdie bearing a message of love is just precious. Such a nice little surprise. Sorry to hear your project has to be started again but I'm sure you'll figure it out the second time around. That's the great thing about crochet and knitting, you can just unravel it and have another go, or work on something completely different. Best wishes, Tammy

How sweet of your daughter, the bird is so cute. On Christmas Eve at 1 a.m. my daughter said to me: Mom, do you want another gift? And she pulled out a beautifully knit scarf she'd made me, but under the pretense that it was for her, when in fact it was for me! She'd even have me try it on and say: Do you think it should be longer? So we are blessed to have sweet daughters!
Yes, that was a bit of a whoopsie! Happy Knitting and can't wait to see that finished.

Your daughter is a keeper...that means her mother taught her well...a mutual admiration.

Love your project...for me it is a reaper I use a lot while sewing...still trying to get my skills back...you, however, do beautiful work

Love the bird & the note. You raised your daughter well.

Darn that knitting -- sometimes it foils you just for fun. You could have unraveled just that area of knitting and re-knitted it correctly, but the piece looks small enough that it might have taken you longer to make the repairs than just do it over. Can't wait for the reveal.

Hi Tanna,,,
Is that not the cutest find ever? A note from those cute fella's and your precious daughter...Touched my heart! I know that they couldn't wait to hear that you had found it! It's these kind of small things that make a difference and make life grand!
Hey, I think your knitting is great! A big head start on me, even if you did have to start all over...
Hugs.

You see that right there is probably why I would get too frustrated to enjoy knitting! Ha! Hopefully, you'll do better the next time around. That was VERY sweet of your daughter to leave a message/gift like that for you to stumble upon. I'm sure the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!

That is such a sweet treasure to find. I think Amanda learned from a master (or would that be mistress?) when she was growing into the delightful young woman she is today.

Oops on the knitting. You choose wonderful colors for your projects.

Best,
Bonnie

Such a thoughtful gift! I bet that made your day. I can feel your frustration over discovering the little "character" in your new knitting project. Hoping it goes better the second time around!

what a sweet daughter..hmmm wonder where she got that from.....

Aren't daughters wonderful?

I've been meaning to say this, and this seems like the right time:

The way you and your daughter bridge the distance between you has been a great inspiration and encouragement to me. I've long had a fear of my daughters moving a distance away, even though I've always been well aware that God could move them.

I haven't mentioned it on my blog, but that time has come, and my daughter will be moving farther away from me than I would want at the beginning of next week.

You had no idea that someone out there in cyber land needed your example... but God did.

Thanks for letting him use you and your daughter (and her little men) to encourage me.

I just love the colors you are knitting with. And I agree with Bonnie ... Amanda learned her love language and how to express it from her parents for sure. What a sweet bird for you to look at and smile upon. I can just imagine the expression on your face when you first found it!

Well enjoy that reknit tonight! Maybe easier the second time around!

Awwww I do that to my mommy too :) and she does it back to me... sometimes when I fall asleep and fail to finish my laundry she will stay up and finish it for me... Then when I get back to the dorms to unpack it theres a note that tumbles softly to the ground :) It sure does make my day/week/year finding those little notes... Although I will admit it makes me sad for a little while... I miss my family :( I just wish all of us could be together Your family, Uncle Greg's, Uncle Mac's, Uncle Jeff's,Ours.... we always have so much fun.... xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Your knitting project is a good analogy to life. It unravels faster than can be knit up... .but the journey is so worth it!

That little bird just sang out to me. It knew right where it needed to be perched.

I'm not sure what you've got in the works for your knitting project, but I sure am digging the color. With a turquoise necklace or earrings... Yum!

Love you so big!! Xoxoxo

That bird is sweet. So are the larger two. It's interesting, I have two blue roosters, very blue tho' I can't describe the color as it's unlike any other. They were my mothers and they are stamped "China" on the bottom. She had them when I was tiny so I'm guessing they date back to the late 1940s/early 1950s.

I should take a photograph and see if someone can identify them as I've never seen the like before.

Good luck on round two! That is why I don't knit, everything had to be torn out way too many times.
Hugs, Cindy
PS What a sweet daughter you have! Daughters are truly the BEST!

I don't think there's much better in life than having a daughter. And doesn't it just get better and better as they get older and become friends too? About the knitting...my motto is, "if you're going to knit, you've got to rip..." I'm sure you're back on track by now!
Best,
Susan
