Knitting Errors, Wide Eyes and Canton Fun

This Noni is obviously past being able to focus!  LOL!  I worked to get this second stocking done last weekend and as I was finishing the toe... I noticed, "Houston, we have a problem!" Oh, no!  The Snowflake had gone bad in the last half.  Doggonit!

But, for now... there is just no time to start over.

This is what it should have looked like...

But, the errors are just going to have to hang for this year... It will still hold some goodies!  Now, to find those stocking holders so it can move to the mantle and wait for Santa to fill it.

The Littlest Man was wide-eyed with excitement yesterday morning as we hit the Canton Trades Days for a wonderful good time!!

After all, Santa was there early, too!  (Little Man still wanted no part of him!)

I was very excited about this little shop!  LOVED the banner and the owner was super nice; he is also a blogger at  the Junk Exchange!  These are the only photos I made the whole day!  I have to confess that time holding and keeping up with grandsons takes huge precedence over photo taking.

We stayed from 8:30 in the morning until almost 5 in the afternoon.  Ate lots of goodies; enjoyed good visits with our friends Barbara and Troy; and, Amanda made a pretty substantial little haul.  It was a delightful day!!  Delightful!  The smells, sights, and sounds of Canton are a real treat.

I came home with only one little treasure (no photo)... Obviously, having grandsons along must slow the purchasing process as well as the photo process.  hee hee.  Their Pop Pop would like to send them along everytime!

Blessings ~ tanna

What a fun day you had and I'm amazed the boys handled that length of time! They must have also been having fun, and I'm sure being with Noni helped with that.

As to the stocking, if you hadn't said I wouldn't have noticed. And, after all, there are no two snowflakes alike you know. Therefore your stocking could beautifully illustrate how God designed each one of us to be wonderfully different, yet often alike, and how he intricately designs even each snowflake to be different!

Ditto to what Dotsie said!! I'll just add a thank you for another adorable photo of Littlest Man!!

I love those kind of events around the holidays and they are even more special attending them with little wide-eyed children.

Best,
Bonnie

Your cute stocking turned out fine. I know what you mean about things not working out as you had hoped sometimes. I just worked on a project yesterday and made a few mistakes on it too. I don't think anyone will notice but me though. Sometimes you just have to allow things to be imperfect! looks like you had a lot of fun at Canton Days. I'm going to a Christmas Open House today at a store. I hope to take pics to share!

I had a snowflake turn out like that some time ago. Where is it? It is still an unfinished project in a bag somewhere....sigh...

Oh his wide eyes are just precious...oh Canton, it holds so many memories, I have been going all my life. Just went a few months ago. I didn't get pictures with all the signs saying "no", but I did find a small treasure.

Looks like the visit has been a cherished one..

Well, that snowflake is melting just a little bit. I love that you have a truly unique stocking. BTW, it's gorgeous. I love the colors.

And a junk exchange? Now you're talkin'

Oh, so this is kind of like a Farmer's Market/yard sale? It looks fun!! LOVE the wide eyed picture of your little man!!! Hey, don't you know that each snowflake is individual, unique, and different??? Your stocking came out just as it should, different like them all!!! I don't know how you manage to make that design, you are talented!!

No, I wouldn't change the stocking at all. It tells a story and it is still beautiful.
Glad you had a fun day with your kids!

I don't knit, but I do crochet. I get frustrated when I find errors after the fact. I can fix them if they are within a few rows, but I just can't get myself to undo hours worth of work. Instead I try to make the item fit the mistake I've made :)

It's still a beautiful stocking. I call those little mishaps character. :)

I went to Canton in November; it was a perfect day, but Santa wasn't there yet. Oh well... Glad you and yours had a good day. The stockings are beautiful, even with the flaws. I can barely tie shoe laces. Merry Christmas, friend.

That must be some place!
I hope you don't change the stocking - it's meant to have a bit of a wonky snowflake, and we all know that no two are alike!

It sounds like an amazing day. The Littlest Man is darling and those eyes would delight the coldest of hearts. I'm amazed the boys held it together for that length of time :-). Mine would have fallen apart before lunch. I suspect you'll be the only one who notices the stocking is slightly askew, so display it with pride. Have a wonderful day. Blessings...Mary

First of all, I love the new look!
The Grand Old Lady is looking beautiful this season.

I agree with Betsy, about snowflakes. Don't undo it! Keep it!

What a great way to spend a day.

Hey Tanna! I love your header photo. I can't believe you stayed out there the whole day with two little boys. That in and of itself is a major accomplishment. I think your knitted stocking is perfect. I don't ever think handmade should be perfect. Heck, if I thought that, I'd never make a thing. ha! Have a great week. Tammy

You inspire me!
That stocking is beautiful, and I would be happy as a pig in mud to be able to knit something like that :)

It looks like you had fun on your trip and that sweet grand baby is a cutie-pie!!

Love your header too. Very cozy and welcoming.

I sure wish we could have met somewhere at Canton...wasn't it a beautiful day? Shanda, Mylee and I had a great time.

What a wonderful day you must have had at Canton, oh how I wish I could go, just one time even.
Have a wonderful evening.

I hardly notice any errors in the stocking, Tanna. Once it is filled with goodies no one will notice for sure.

I LOVE Canton! I've gone every year for the past 10 or so with my Austin friends, but this year we did another flea market (in Paris!!!!) Yeah, it was amazing, but Jody and Diane still went this month to Canton. I missed being with them.
Love little man's hat!!! And the stocking--totally OK. A little duplicate stitch could probably cover it up--but once those goodies are in it--believe me, NO ONE will notice the snowflake. (And remember--every snowflake is unique!!!)

Beautiful house! You are the decorating expert. Lovely. Also I love the unique stocking - very nice with or without the snowflake adjustment. I know you enjoyed shopping with your beautiful family. Can you come and decorate for me?

I think the stocking should hang as is. One day you will look back and remember those sweet moments in life that were keeping you so busy.

Remind me of that when I post a knitting flop!

Your stocking looks great! (The one side is just a little melty...) Where'd you find the pattern? (I've been asked to make a one for the little one that's soon to arrive.. And his daddy, too. Can't do it this year but there's always next, right?) Who's the lovely helper in the salt dough project? Our LMQ fan has found a new use for the Advent calendar; Mom reports that he's been parking his cars in the pockets!

That little man made me laugh right out loud! What fun. And what a wonderful place to spend the day.

I was so relieved when I saw the stocking hanging, mistake and all. Sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect that we lose the magic! I've found that a little imperfection in my life keeps me humble and adds humor to our days.

Blessings to you Tanna, Debbie

Looks like it was so much fun! And snowflakes, like people, are all individual. I think it looks great.

Love seeing the lights on your bungalow! Re the knitting mistake, it makes it personal, your own! I'll bet a few duplicate stitches in the right place would make it almost invisible. The day at Canton looks perfect and I'm glad you have all your priorities in order!
Best,
Susan
