Mad Dash Birthday Celebration!

We celebrated my Mom's 75th birthday this weekend!  It was a mad dash to West Texas, as I was painting right up until 30 minutes before we headed out the door.  It is a long way for a dash, but it was worth it to celebrate with Mom and see my family.

This is the gang.  Our Birthday Girl is front and center!  My brother, Jeff, to the far left is the 'middle child'.  Then me, the oldest.  Then my baby brother Greg, the youngest of the boys.  My brother Malcolm, who is next in the age line-up after me.  And, my baby sister Melanie, who is exactly eight years younger than me; we share the same birthday.  Hmmmm.... I never felt like the 'short one.'

We enjoyed lots of fun and great food thanks to Melanie, who outdid herself!  and, Jeff who made some wonderful pulled pork!

... not to mention the feast Mom had prepared for our arrival Friday night... shrimp etouffee, ham and a squash dish that was out of this world!  As always when at Mom's, I ate way too much!  And I loved every bite.

We were able to enjoy a beautiful storm and some much, much needed rain!

Then raced back to start the rat race again!!!  And, my time is up!  Got to get back at it.

Wishing you all a wonderful week!

A very Happy Birthday to your very young looking mum!
I'm the oldest too - and the shortest - so I had to stand up for myself with those tall younger siblings. Malcolm is a family name in my family too - my father and my son take it into the 21st century.

Happy birthday to your mom! So nice that all of you could get together. What a great looking bunch you are! Wow! That looks like a menacing storm. We drove through Indiana summer before last where there was miles and miles of turbines -- rather strange looking. Wishing you all the best, Tammy

The most nice words is already said. And i think to repeat all of them will be not the best...
In my view it is important that all of you have yourself so gladly. I can see on this Post so much happiness.
What can make a mother feeling good? I am sure-to know her children are on her site and they are ok'.
Lovely moments of your universe. And you know how to appreciate this.
Liebe Tanna, your blog is a gas station of positive power for me.
It is the TRUTH.
Greetings for all

Hello dear Tanna,
Ssh, don't tell your siblings I said this, but you look like the youngest in the family, not the oldest.
Glad to hear that you had such a wonderful time with your family, how nice that you still have your mom and that shrimp etufe, )not the correct spelling I'm sure), sounds delightful, I love that dish!!!

Forgot to tell you. Sarah McLaughlin, Fleetwood Mac, The Fray, and Journey are four of my favorite groups, too! I have even read Fleetwood Macs bio, and had the first Buckingham/NicKs album from pre-Mac days!

I know she had a wonderful day. How could she not when surrounded by family and so many good wishes? You, by the way, are far too young looking to be the oldest child. I hope all is well and that you have a great weekend. Blessings...Mary
