Aged Beauties of Tyler... Day Two

As promised, I am going to continue posting views in my historic neighborhood this week as we count down the days until the Azalea Trails open.

California Girl asked the age of the neighborhood.  There are homes ranging from the late 1800s to present day infill, fortunately we have very few of these.

This would be one of the older ones.

There are a predominate number built in the late 20s and the 1930s, when Tyler experienced a growth surge due to an oil boom.

Homes built in the 60s are eligible for historic designation now:   a home must be fifty years old to qualify as historic.

This year's Historic Tyler on Tour will feature a couple built in the late 40s, one of them a ranch style Austin Stone with beautiful crown moulding, gleaming hardwoods, and beautiful design, decor and artwork by the homeowner.

I find the variety of age and style to be delightful and interesting.

The property on the right in the above photo is a duplex built right in the midst of the single family homes, probably in the 30s.  This one is not one of ours, but I am sure it was built with the wonderful style that we so love.

This one would be one of the younger girls on the block.

There are several Tudor style homes and I love this style!

The property above was recently bought and restored to its former glory.  Gotta love it!

This concludes today's tour... hope you will come back for more.  The Azalea Trails open tomorrow; our Candlelight Tour and Party are tomorrow; and, the weekend will have the home tour going strong.

AWE STRUCK!

Based on your information, I now qualify for "historic designation."

The first home is reminiscent of restoration work seen in SoCal sometimes, particularly Hollywood hills or West LA. I really like it.

I wish I could be there in person to tour the homes. But the next best thing is seeing them on your blog.

I love a neighborhood where every house is different. And I could look at houses forever. I'm loving your series here, and trying to figure out if you have posted your house yet ... I don't think so but wondered if the top one was it (previous post) and the porch might be on the side of the house? Anyway, its all beautiful and your azaleas are just a couple of days ahead of ours I think. Spring has rushed a bit this year, don't you think?

I'll definitely be back for more. I often walk in Claremont, California - a few towns over from me - they have beautiful homes in the historic district. I love seeing these homes in Tyler...

I would sell everything we have here to have just a sweet little cottage house in the warm part of our state. Love these homes! ;D

What beautiful homes! Several of these homes look like they may have brick siding which has been painted? We've been pondering whether to paint ours and so when I see photos of painted brick, it gives me encouragement!

I came over from Shug's blog. Nice to meet you! I'll be back to look around some more. You have a wonderful blog.

Wow! If you're not already on the Chamber of Commerce employee list for the City of Tyler, you should be! These are gorgous places and you captured them perfectly.

Thanks for finding my blog today! It's been quite a few years since I've been to Tyler, but I know it is a lovely place. :)

Tyler is beautiful right now...I actually thought you were showing homes and tours from Natchez, MS when I first starting looking. The homes are "to die for." Thanx for sharing. Tiff @ The Cranky Queen

Just so beautiful...one reminds me of my husband's aunt's house in Gilmer.

Glad you are recovering, it really does look like fun.
