Hurray for the Weekend!

Friday night found us worn out from a frenzied week.  And... it was our night to host our church's Supper with Friends.  But, as I moved through preparing the food and setting the table... the stresses of the week began to melt away... I do enjoy a good meal with friends.

Mixed Greens with Oranges, Blueberries, Dried Cherries, Candied Walnuts and Feta Cheese
with a Raspberry-Orange Balsamic Vinaigrette
Braised Brisket
from Ree Drummond's Pioneer Woman Cooks
(my friend, Kathy, gave me this book.  thank you, Kathy!)
Creamed Mashed Potatoes
PW Cooks
 Peas with Onions and Mint
Rue Tatin Sweet Crescent Rolls
Chocolate Delight Ribbon Cake

I tried four new recipes and OH, MY GOODNESS!  I loved them all; but, Mary's minted peas and crescent rolls were my hands down favorites!!  Those peas tasted like Spring!!  Amazing. Her One Perfect Bite did inspire more than One Perfect Bite to be exact.

The Braised Brisket was really good, too.  And, it might have been even better when we heated up leftovers for a late lunch today.  The potatoes were creamy and rich.  So, all four new recipes were big keepers and will be repeated here at the Bungalow.

I love old silver... mixed dishes... simple wood...

Shiny glass beads... a glass of good wine...

Festive new drinks...

And hot coffee with my dessert...

And, today... I finally had time to paint a little... and to blog... to do the fun things I enjoy... =)
Gotta love the weekend!
Hope you are doing some fun things, too!

What a gorgeous home you have my dear! Just beautiful! I have alot of the jewel tone colors in my home also.

It sounds like your dinner party was a complete success, and the recipes delicious! I've never tried any PW recipes and think I'm missing out. I need to pick up her book soon.

Hmm. I'm trying to decide if I'm more jealous of the people who got to come eat that fabulous meal with you or those photographs you took! The menu and the table setting sure did make me homesick. You always have a way of making your guests feel special to be dining with you. I love that about being home with you.

I must know (1) which lens(es) you used to get your photos (2) how you got the light to look so bright and (3) did you do any retouching. On the agenda when we talk next. Love you!!

Your table looked so pretty. I really like that china pattern and I don't think I've see it before. I agree; eating with friends is very pleasant and I don't think I do it often enough now that our kids are gone. I think I've gotten a little lazy! All this space, and not a clue. :D Delish menu!

Your dinner menu sounds fantastic I hope everyone enjoyed their food.
I too love being in the kitchen cooking, I get taken away preparing a meal I know will feed everything and they will enjoy.

Have a terrific rest of the weekend.

Your table is exquisite! The menu is shall I say...to die for! I love the brisket and the mashed potato recipes....now I have to have Mary's peas and crescent rolls. (I'll have to eat the peas alone...(no green on husbands' plate) but that doesn't sound like a bad thing to do....they look wonderful! Aren't fellow bloggers recipes so great? I trust them as tried and perfect!
I'm with Amanda, your pictures are so bright and clear! Good Job!

Tanna--Oh my how did I miss this post? I've been busy with a deadline I guess. What a treat to enter your home and "sit" at your beautiful table! All so lovely. And the food sounds great ... you are brave to try new recipes on guests...I can if they are really good friends, but often I need to practice first. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, and now another is ahead of us, Have a good one!

P.S. I took a closer look at your candlesticks --they must be vintage, as I just got the same ones--or very similar--from Mom and I believe she got them for a wedding present 68 years ago,

This is absolutely the best way to melt away the week's stresses by sharing a meal with friends. There is something very rejuvenating when you sit down with family/friends and share a grace of a meal together.
