The Chandelier

The Chandelier is up and I'm happy with it... for now.

There are at least five pounds of shiny baubles and bling that went on... and then, came off...

I seem to only be able to tolerate simple lines...

And, I am moving VERY slowly in finishing up this room... it is STILL a work-in-progress.

So, for now the bauble and bling are in a drawer... who knows, maybe one day soon they will be back on again.  I ordered the chandelier from Overstock.com.  One piece was broken, but they replaced it very promptly (after we finally understood each other regarding WHICH piece was broken).

It was much, much less expensive than the one from Pottery Barn I had been pining for... taking that into consideration, there is a lot to be said for the old saying, "You get what you pay for."  ;)

Even though I'm going slowly... the dining room has come a long way from when we bought this house last year.  Just getting that carpet off the floor was a big improvement!  I'll do more photos to include the hardwood flooring  I if when I ever "finish". Ha!

Just couldn't have gotten that chandelier hung without my helper.  Have I mentioned that I adore my children?  ;)  Thank you, Zachary!!

I know what you mean about choosing the right anything. I am so bad about knowing what will work and what won't. Many times I've had to live with o.k. choices. I like the chandelier!

Best,
Bonnie

Hey Tanna, I would say that so far, it's pure gorgeousness! I love the board-n-batten you've done on the wall. I want to do that at the lake house. But, it's slow going for me right now, too. Hopefully, this summer I'll get many projects done. Take care. Talk soon.

Oh I'm so sorry about all that rain Sunday. :-( I agree with you on the simple lines of the chandelier. It's so pretty. And your dining room and the table--beautiful!

Dear Tanna, Your chandelier is beautiful. The dining room is gorgeous...I love it. I hope you and your beautiful family had a happy and blessed Easter. It has been difficult visiting with everyone lately. My brother went into cardiac arrest last week, fortunately he is getting better and stronger each day. I will try to stop by whenever I can. Blessings dear friend. Catherine xoxo

I would have thought your chandelier was supposed to look like that if you hadn't told us the bling was put away. I love bling but this looks right with your room and table, simply elegant. And those white furry seat backs are so pretty!

Precious photo of you and your son-love these kids!
Chandelier looks lovely and you were so wise to buy it from Overstock. We recently replaced some lighting and did the same thing-I am just thrilled with our decision and so happy we saved the money!

So happy you had some wonderful help. Nothing can replace the love we feel for our children. Do you think they know how much we love them? You are so an awesome decorator / visionary. Love the colors and everything about this wonderful room! Very nice to hear good things about an online transaction :) Have a lovely weekend.

Did you finish the set, or buy it that way?

Have a great weekend!!

Definitely an improvement. The chandelier looks so much nicer than the old light fixture. My Zack is not much help with anything. :) Best wishes, Tammy

i wish we had had a before and after 'bling' photo!! (I have a feeling I would opt for the un-blingy style, too! ) Looking great!

Pretty chandelier . . . (Much improved from the previous!)
Wonderful to have a sweet son helper, isn't it . . .
Looking forward to the wooden floor peak . . . (Carpet in a dining room needs to vanish here too). (Problem is, how to "marry" existing wood floors with new???)

Sometimes we find that we just should have bought what we wanted on the first go 'round.......and sometimes we find that we come to quite like the second choice. Your second choice looks like a #1 to me!
