Dancing in Sunshine...

Don't you just relish being around folks who love you at your worst and yet always make you want to be your best?

That's probably one of my favorite things about my daughter... though the list is quite long.

She has inspired me to want to improve my photography skills by her example... She has become very, very good and she is working to be even better.   I love that!

I want to be better.  So, I've set a goal of taking at least one photography class this year... really trying to get better.  I'm pretty intimidated by the idea of a class... but, there's much I have to learn.

I've been trying to define exactly what it is in a photograph, or any art, that makes me really like it... My answer is that it has to elicit a feeling

I would like to be able to convey the feeling that my knits (or whatever) give me...

One of the things I've learned in life is that we quickly recognize the familiar...

So, maybe the ultimate challenge would be to share that feeling with someone who has never had it... ???

Just pondering here...

A very, very special thank you to Amanda for indulging me with this photo session.  She UNDERSTANDS the desire to capture... and shares the love of the pursuit.

Shawl is Morticia by Boo Knits.  Done in Madelinetosh Lite:  Esoteric.

The yarn I'm using in the Stripy Crochet is Madelinetosh Tosh DK.  I'll be sharing more about it soon.

My heart's hope is that there is someone in your life who inspires you to be bigger than you are... reach higher... do more... and yet, loves you when you do nothing at all.  We all need at least one of those.  I am blessed to have many.

Life.  Liberty.  And the pursuit of Happiness.

May you dance in sunshine today.

blessings to all ~ tanna

What a wonderful tribute to your beautiful Amanda, and your words are inspiring as always. You did really well with this photo session in my humble opinion--good color, action, and even though you are in trees there are no shadows on her face. That's so good! And of course I love the shawl and she sure knows how to show it off!

What a lovely post. I like to be inspired by people as well. I hope you find a photography course that helps you, although your pictures are pretty good already. The shawl is beautiful.

I like how you encapsulate, what I would take 15 pages of rambling, into a wonderful and beautiful collage of ideas.
Talk about ART!!! You got it sister!

Oh, so much to say to this one! I want to talk about the beautiful shawl, and the beautiful model, and the beautiful words. They spoke directly to me, and I am blessed to have three such people in my life who really stand out. I married one and gave birth to the others. I am a woman most blessed.

Of course, it goes without saying that you are one too!

Such sweet words - thank you! You just made my day. =) Funny thing, I just took a little break from my composition class to come see your photos - which always make me want to have more creativity! We forge ahead in the pursuit!! =) Love you! xoxo

Beautiful daughter, beautiful shawl and beautiful photos! I wish I could take the photography class with you. I had to drive out of town to take the two classes I took at $75 each. They were mostly about camera settings. What I really want is a buddy to take pictures of the same objects and discuss what settings and why. I keep hoping someone will come along as interested as I am. I also did an outline course but still need hands on help. Also you forget when a little time passes what you thought you learned. If anyone out there is interested in Skyping to discuss photography and comparing notes and questions let me know.

I did not think there could be anything more gorgeous than that shawl until I saw your beautiful daughter. I am trying to get better with my photos, it seems to be something I need to work at because the quality of mine are just not that good.

Tanna, love the goal that you've set for yourself. Sounds like a great one, and one that will be fun too.

Your daughter is a pretty model for the beautiful shawl that you made. She's a great sport in helping you out too.

I, like you, am so blessed to have wonderful people in my life that inspire me to "lengthen my stride", every day .

Amanda looks so beautiful in your photographs, as does your shawl, Tanna!

I would love to take a photography class -- I really need it to learn more about using my DSLR camera. A community college nearby offers classes so it is on my bucket list!

Dear Tanna, I relate with all of my heart to this post. My daughter is a true inspiration to me too. She makes me not want to, "give in or give up". I want to go forward for her, even though the climb seems daunting inside. I try.
Your daughter is very lovely and I am glad that you have that blessed connection.
The shawl is one of my favorites.
Blessings dear and a hug, Catherine
