My Beloved is quite fond of quoting to me from Lonesome Dove: "You don't give up on a garment just because it's got a little age on it." True enough. Point in case is this cotton shift. It has been washed so many times the care instructions are no longer legible. I still love it. And, I still wear it.
My trouble was I didn't have a shawl to go with it. So, the search began for The Color (we've talked about how important color is). On the day I became obsessed started looking, this Baby Cashmerino by Debbie Bliss made me happiest of all the wonderful colors in our LYS.
I'll readily admit that I've been spoiled to the tonal shades of hand-dyed yarns and the incredible variations in the Noro yarns; but, I think I will like this okay. It is just different working with a solid, no variation, perfectly smooth yarn.
So, we will see... More to be revealed.
I'm joining Ginny's Yarn Along today. I have a couple of good blog friends (Steph and Karen) who do this every week, and I am happy to join them today.

p.s. yes, I know some of you are thinking it... and, yes, this is but another diversion from The Unloved. ;)

Looks like the perfect outfit for a fall day in Virginia!!
Best,
Bonnie
Love the color, what shawl pattern are you using?
I wasn't thinking about the "unloved" at all. I was thinking about how much I LOVE that material that shift is made from...and the orange! I see why you love it. Love me some orange! I don't know why I never buy any clothing in that color. You've got the perfect color there in the DB Cash to go with it!
I love this color and never really thought about solids vs. hand dyed. Love the quotes and can't wait to see you model this one - in the dress of course!
I followed the link to your LYS and had to come back. I'm peeved! Little ol' Tyler has a yarn shop like THAT?? How lucky you are! I have to drive way too far to the closest "real" yarn store, the Woolie Ewe, which I know you are familiar with. (And by too far, I mean like 10 miles. Ha.) But all that traffic!
I like how you make outfits out of garments. It's the artist in you that creates masterpieces.
PS; I'm still working on my "thingy".
Still now getting, knitting. So I'll just live through your genius pieces.
I love the colors! Can't wait to see it with the shift!
i just laugh at your avoidance of the unloved. :)
and thanks for reminding me of the gull scene in finding nemo. :)
Wow! What a lovely colour.

Sending You A Hug To Let You Know How Much I've Missed Visiting You! xoTerri
My favorite quote from Lonesome Dove is when Gus said, "I'm glad I ain't afraid to be lazy." HA! Your color is beautiful!
Probably one of my favorite colors. You amaze me...always with the needles..... ;)
The color is perfect! Do you mind telling me how you got the" you might also like these" at the bottom of your blog?
you obsessed??? never. I love that color and it does match the garment that will not be retiring now :)
This is luscious. Can't wait to see the finished shawl.
I also have a "cowboy" hubby who quotes to me from all the movies and books he reads all the time.
Thanks for visiting my YA post today! LOVE, love, love the colorway you're working with. :)
Love the color!
Hahahahahaha! Best. Quote. EVER. for you!! Hahahahahaha!! Can't wait to see the piece that's keeping The Unloved shelved. ;-) xoxo
You will have added another season to the orange shift...3 out of 4 isn't bad! Oh, I forget you are in Texas, so it may well be a year round dress with the new shawl!
And that last quote...I love that quote. It is something I need to be better about... paying attention.
Love, d.
Cute shift...that shawl will be the perfect match! It even looks pretty as is in that cute little basket. Lovely work, Tana. xo, janice
I do know what you mean about those gorgeous hand-dyed beauties, but I think this is going to be perfect for that shift!!!! (and the color does make me very very happy!!!!!)
Oh Lonesome Dove...my Dad's favorite. The color is great! Have fun!!
I loved the quote at the end..the cleaning windows hit me!
LOL... yes, I was thinking about your tangerine diversion from the Unloved.
It's a good one, though. I love that color in the biggest way. I also liked the quote from Lonesome Dove (it must be my husband's life quote because he certainly lives it. He still has clothes from college. True story.)
And I really LOVED that quote at the end. That's a true story too.
Oh muy, what a glorious colour!! I was totally off orange shades (wouldn't even eat the orange sweets!) but last year I had an epiphany and suddenly just love it!! I put orange in everything....even next to pink...and eat orange sweets. so, you see, I really mean it when I swoon over that lovely orange...and your blouse as well! Joan
I really love that color, it feels like Happy!
Oh, Baby Cashmerino by Debbie Bliss, is one of my fav yarns. It feels like knitting with butter...yummy!
Sending hugs and blessings your way sweet friend.
Your stitches are so even. I LOVE the orange color and I can't wait to see what you reveal as the pattern
That's a beautiful color and will go with your shift perfectly!
Lonesome Dove is one of my all-time favorite tv movies. Gus was my favorite character and I was so upset when he died! Robert Duvall is one of my favorite actors of all time.
Tanna-
What a vibrant and beautiful color-- I can hardly wait to see you turn it into something beautiful!
Your poor little unloved project-- lol-- actually I think I have more than one!!!
Life is too short to knit things you don't love!
Vicki
Great color! Don't you love Baby Cashmerino? And hey, it's Endless, not unloved, remember?
I love the colors!
Greetings from, RW & SK
I love the rich color in both the cute cotton shift AND the soon-to-be-shawl! The shawl will give the shift new life! ;-)

That will make a lovely fall outfit. An added bonus - your family will always be able to find you in the mall:-)I have a canary yellow outfit that I wear in the summer. Bob shields his eyes every time he sees me in it. Some folks have no appreciation for what puts the color in technicolor. Have a wonderful weekend, Tanna. Blessings...Mary
I hate to admit that the Unloved did flit through my mind at the beginning. But then I was so happy with your yarn color. I know what you mean about a solid color. But it has charm. Really.
I have to say this - that is one of the most beautiful colors I have seen - matches perfectly. I know it will be beautiful on you. sandie
Love the color Tanna! Perfect fall color. Knit the Bridge is up and so fun - the yarn bomb I was telling you about. Pics up!
xo

lol, love that quote. I'll have to remember that. I have heard many times lately that "tangerine" is the new popular color.
Dear Tanna,
I think some of our old clothes are our favorites. They have come along through life with us.
I think you will truly enjoy working on this. The color is beautiful. It is cheerful and warm.
I bet it will turn out to be one of your favorites. Blessings dearest. Catherine xo
