Midnight Shores, Deep Breaths and a Little Cleaning

On the trip to my Mom's for her birthday, I was able to do much of the work on this shawl and finished it up after getting back home.  I love the smokey blues and the variation of sandy browns.  Reminded me of a midnight shore... deep waters and shifting sands...

The pattern is Shaelyn by Leila Raabe  (available for download on Ravelry.)  Loved it! I did extra repeats of the pattern because I prefer extra large shawls... the better to wrap myself all snuggle-y!

The yarn is Silk Blend by Manos del Uruguay (which means the hands of Uruguay), "a non-profit organization which assembles over 400 artisans in cooperatives scattered throughout the countryside of Uruguay.  The aim of the organization is to bring economic and social opportunities to rural women."  I like that.  The artisan who made my yarn is Nilka Avila.  I appreciate that.

It has been an extremely busy week.  For the last two days, I have reminded myself to take deep breaths... to calm down... it will all get done... it will all work out...

And, it will.

Just had to share this cute shot Amanda took a couple of weeks ago...  of some very special cleaning.  Little Man thought Littlest Man needed a little Swifting.  LOL!

I have a couple more weeks of craziness before things settle down (hopefully back to a normal busy!!).  Wishing everyone a wonderful fall weekend!  blessings ~ tanna

I love the shawl--the colors and the pattern. I can see it will be nice to cuddle into whatever the occasion!

I noticed that Littlest Man was dust free when we were together and now I know why. Too cute!!

Have a good and relaxing weekend.

Best,
Bonnie

The Shawl (it deserves a capital letter) is absolutely beautiful. It looks perfect for keeping warm on a cold evening in the late fall or winter.

Glad you're taking those deep breaths. It will all get done in good time.

And Littlest Man look so busy with a tray load of things to occupy his attention---when he's not being dusted!

Hope you can relax some this weekend!

That is a beautiful shawl and it looks like you had a wonderful visit over Halloween with some cute kids.

Sorry I've been gone, my blog disappeared while I was in New England. I've put up a new one here to keep up for now.

That shawl is gorgeous, Tanna. And I love that you know where the yarn came from and who made it. Fantastic! Littlest Man sure has a cool set up in that walker. How cute that Little Man thought he needed a quick dusting. Ha! Hope your day is great. Tammy

Ha Ha! I love the little dust man. That picture is priceless.

And the shawl is absolutely fabulous. I love the colors and the pattern. I also agree with you about the cause behind the artisans. Excellent!

Tanna, your shawl is beautiful. I love the story behind the yarn. That makes it extra special. I know for sure I need to spend some time with you to get me back into the knitting spirit. And that beautiful picture....it brought back memories for me of my girls. They are 3 years apart and the oldest one always piled up all the toys around the youngest one in the walker. So sweet.

Tanna,
Your shawl is lovely. I've never knitted with Manos del Uruguay and although I am familiar with them, did not know their story. It's crazy busy here too and I'm looking forward to, longingly, the cold, stay-inside-and-knit days of January!
Best,
Susan

That is such a beautiful shawl! I have never made anything to wear, so I'm very impressed. I'm sure that took a long time to do. The colors are nice and will work with many outfits. With the cooler temps in the air these days, it's time to start pulling out shawls and sweaters isn't it?

You inspire me!

You have so many wonderful talents.
The best handiwork that I can manage is a few dishclothes, maybe a scarf or two.

Those boys are precious! How blessed you are!!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

Doesn't it make the shawl even more wonderful knowing that you are helping someone, who needs it badly, to feed their family. What a gift...
That shawl will look amazing on you.

Nice job on the shawl! I love the colors! What weight is that yarn? It's beautiful. I need to recast on for my lace weight shawl - but first some Christmas knitting. Always something to knit. :o)
