Baskets of Yarn for Baby Boy...

For anyone who has been visiting my blog awhile, it comes as no surprise that a new Baby Boy is on the way...  Brother to Little Man, whose Momma is my daughter, Amanda.  He is due to make our aquaintance June 11 of this year.  It's getting high time his Noni got busy on a welcome-and-be-wrapped-in-love gift of his very own.

This beautiful organic cotton yarn came in the mail yesterday and, at the very last tail-end of the day, I cast on the first stitches of what will become a tiny nightgown for Baby Boy.

Last week at Rose Path, my friend Laura showed me a new book that hadn't even been checked in to the store yet.  It is Natural Nursery Knits by Erika Knight.  I fell in love with this little gown!  I had been looking for a pattern for Baby Boy with no luck; then, thanks to Laura, there was this one!

Help needed:  Rose Path did not stock the exact yarn called for in the pattern, so I thought I might use this cashmerino.  After making a start on it, I realized it just wasn't turning out like I wanted:  ergo, the order of Rowan Organic 4-ply Cotton.  So, I have a nice stash of this beautiful blue cashmerino.  If any of you knitters out there have done a project with the Debbie Bliss yarn that you loved, please pass that information on to me.  I have to find another new project.  =)  Like I need one more!  I have three knitting projects and one crochet shawl on the needles now!

This is the sunflower a.k.a. Ides of March Project to date.  I was only able to work on it Tuesday and this is as far as I got.  I think I am really going to like it (if I don't pass the point of no return!  LOL!)

This.... well, I stole it off my daughter's blog which is private.  I do miss my angels... and soon there will be one more!  XOXOXOX

Now, back to work!!  Hope you all have a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!

Oh what a talented gal you are my dear. Making a homemade gown for the new baby, such a way to give tangible love.

The Sunflower is to die for!!! OH my goodness...if you stopped right now it would be perfect!

I don't knit, but I have made a quilt for all 9 of my grandchildren and also my two little great grandsons.

So enjoy your blog ~~

Love the colors you are using for Littler Man ... our grandsons will come very close to each other. In fact today I toured the brand new labor and delivery where I work, which opens Monday, where he will arrive after they move here! (sorry I know you wish yours were closer). I love the sunflower project ... looks great. Have a wonderful weekend.

I guess I know where you and your precious knitting project will be in June!! Love seeing smiling Little Man in a park that I could very well have played in as a child or taken my boys to!!

The sunflower is gorgeous!! I like it better than Van Gogh!!

Best,
Bonnie

Your daughter is so lucky you can knit beautiful things for the baby! I like the expected birthdate ;)

I am still waiting for my daughter-in-law to go into labor. She's had one false alarm. My first grandson was born 9 days after his due date, so his brother may repeat the same tardiness ...lol

Your sunflower is beautiful! It really looks like the real flower in the prior post.

happy St. Patrcik's Day!

Hugs, Pat

I so treasure and adore the Noni-knitted gifts of love for my little guys. And I wish I could put Alex in that little bunny hat you sent me to, but I'm with Pop Pop on that one. I do think that Cocoa O'Hare will need a little bunny brother next Easter though.

Can't wait to see the drama you've added to your sunflower. If it's too much drama, maybe you should name the painting "alex's flower." ha!! Xoxoxoxo

Sounds as though you've got your work cut out for you! But ALL good things! A new knitting project--I'd like to start something new, but am MAKING myself finish up a couple of "almost dones" before I do. I absolutely love your sunflower.

What a blessed event to await. The anticipation of this arrival must be thrilling. I think it is wonderful that you will make him something that can be passed down and is not store bought. There will be love, patience and many dreams and hopes that will be woven into that little gown. I am happy for you.. Blessings, Catherine

Girl, you are good! Brin and I were talking the other day about knitting -- how anyone can take needles and a string of yarn and make gorgeous creations! Who thought of that, anyway? Amazing! Those little guys are blessed to have you as their Noni! Have a wonderful day!
