The Blue Hour and Laura's Farm Garden... A Couple of Favorites

Christine at the Vista Woman blog passed on the neatest information earlier this week!  The Blue Hour is a set amount of time early in the morning, as show here, and late in the afternoon where, when photographed, the sky is an incredible blue (looked dark when I took the photo!).  There is even a website, bluehoursite, about this that will tell you when your blue hour is!

This one was taken later... see how the blue is beginning to fade.  These are straight out of the camera.  How cool is that???

And, then there is this... {sigh}... I have admired this piece ever since Laura started to work on it. Now, it lives here with us... man, we have had a great couple of weeks on art that stirs our hearts!  It is Laura's interpretation of Farm Garden by Gustav Klimt.  He is one of my favorite artists and Laura's creative rug hooking elevates a craft to an art form.  Now, to get it hung!!

Check out her blog:  Beehive Rug Hooking

I'm linking these to Sandi's Friday Favorites... because they are my favorites this week!!  =)

What a gorgeous Rug! I love Klimt, too!

And what a gorgeous moon we've been having lately - did you see it last night as it was coming up? We were at the farm and we could see it on the horizon in the East. It looked like a big pumpkin - made me think of fall!

Have a wonderful weekend, and show your rug when you get it hung!

Oh, be still my heart! That rug is breathtaking. Rug? No, not rug--ART!! I'm going right over to Beehive Rug Hooking.

You lived in Charleston? Another connection for us. Where did you live? We were in Sandhurst on the Ashley River--just off Orange Grove Road. The boys went to school downtown. Those were good years--hot, humid and buggy but good.

Best,
Bonnie

I will be checking out the blue hour and seeing what kind of photo I can get. Is it better to try and get it where there are no street lights? I'm going to have to do some location scouting.

That rug is a masterpiece - just like the painting it was designed after. I can't wait to see it in person and get a real feel for those colors. It looks like happiness. Love it!

Amanda... the bluehoursite has all the info on the lights. I just ran out early one morning and shot that one focusing on the moon. I can tell location scouting could lend some really exciting results! Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

You've passed along some pretty cool bloggers.

Love the first blue photograph you took.

That rug is amazing. I wasn't sure what it was in the photo (my eyes are terrible w/o my glasses) and thought it might be crewel embroidery. But a hooked rug styled after Klimt...wow!

Oh my goodness! What a beautiful rug..but OH MY GOODNESS (an octive higher) I need to learn more about this incredible Blue Hour! I sometimes get so sidetracked with creating till I miss out on some of the best things. And Yes, after all these years my sweet friend, I'm still learning. This Blue Hour thing is totally new for me and I truly thank you for bringing something so wonderful to my door. And who says we have to live in the same neighbor to bring gifts over? Have a glorious day because you've sure made mine!
