Blessings and Basketball

The older I get, the more I realize just how much of a blessing good health is.  We tend to take it for granted until our fragility rears its head.   We had a bit of a health scare with Amanda recently.  Over the past year, her hearing had become so impaired she finally conceded to a hearing aid.  Then, over the past months, her vision in one eye had blurred markedly and she had developed a constant sense of pressure behind her eye.  With both her hearing and eyesight issues, we began to have concerns of something even more serious than hearing and vision loss.

Finally, after a battery of tests, we have taken a deep breath.  She has been cleared of tumor or neurological disease.  Still, the stark and fresh realization of our fragility leaves me shaken.  Also, My Beloved has been suffering with a bout of cluster headaches.   Oh, the blessing of good health.  Not to be taken for granted.

Last weekend, we enjoyed a short visit to Ft. Worth and took in the Water Gardens with the Little Men & Co.  It reminded me of a concrete jungle of sorts.

While the waterfall went DOWN, the mountain went UP!

I can't imagine how many gallons of water flow through this place in an hour!

Any day is made better sharing it with these two!

And, we were able to attend their last basketball games of the season!  So fun to get to see them play!

And, this little smarty pants (6 years old) runs the scoreboard for his big brother's team after enjoying a win on his own team! Ha!

Their Daddy, Jerry, coached Andrew's team and is always encouraging and leading these boys in such a wonderful way.  I feel so blessed to have him as father to my grandchildren and husband to my daughter.

And, this one... well, our visit was good for all the usual reasons of loving to spend time with this precious family, but most of all... this mother (me) just needed to see and touch and hold her own child and thank God for her... and for her health.

I am so thankful.

What a lovely post! That fountain is BEAUTIFUL (as is your family).

I can't believe the six year old is doing scoreboard duty! How cool is THAT???

I have been dealing with a chronic/progressive illness now for about 8 years. I agree --- sometimes we don't realize how lucky we were. Best wishes to your daughter. I hope they find out quickly what is bothering her hearing and vision.

Oh Tanna...I feel your pain...my eldest has Celiac, such an annoying disease...I got hearing aids myself in Nov...some days I love them, some days not so much.
While we have been here in Florida...all the beach walking...my legs have really been acting up....geesh...seeing my Dr on our return next week....
We sure do take our good health for granted....glad your daughter is ok...and fingers crossed for hubby 🤞🏻
Getting old sucks....can’t wait to see my 2 granddaughters...and my kids....💕
Good wishes to you dear Tanna....those boys are dolls💋
Cheers!

So what is causing Amanda's hearing loss and eyesight problems? Glad to see you got to spend some quality time with the family. Hard to believe how big those boys are now. A friend's husband has had back surgery because of chronic back problems. That didn't work so then he had a block done. The pain rared it's ugly head again and he's been told another surgery is required but instead they are in India where he is doing ayurvedic treatment, hoping for relief and healing. Living with constant pain is definitely not easy. Blessings to all.

Thankful your daughters test results were good/positive . . .
Scary having, hearing and sight issues . . . thinking about what else could it be . . .
May everything be okay . . . sorry, sad for your concern, wonder, worry . . .
Sometimes we can’t help but fret a bit . . .
Thinking and caring about your husband as well . . .
And caring about you sweet tanna . . .
Loved seeing you wrapped with one of your recent knit designs . . .

Loved seeing those little basketball boy blessings . . .
Don’t you love watching them . . .
It brought memories back for me of the many Saturday morning BB games we attended.
Loved those days . . . now our youngest grand is 20 . . .
And soon “the greats” will be involved in all their activities.
We feel so fortunate, bless’t to be active in our families lives.

God Bless you . . . feel His love wrapped around you . . .

Tanna, I can't believe how those darling boys are growing so fast!! They are still little cuties too! I'm so sorry to hear that Amanda has had some health issues but happy to know the worst has been ruled out. Please give her my best. Hoping for complete healing for her and for your sweetheart as well. Prayers for you as you deal with it all.

Best,
Bonnie

They are so cute..all of them..all of you:)
Thank God Amanda is ok..Hope the cluster headaches leave soon!
You are so right..several years ago my husband and I were relishing perfect health feeling so lucky that we had been spared.Things can change in one heartbeat.
And health is the asset to cherish and covet.
Yet let us look around.. I think we only do and relaize once we are in the medical system and see all the people that suffer.
Not everything is la vie en rose for everyone..and some much more tested than others.
A mystery.Why?

One of my son-in-laws coaches the boys too:)
All 4 are into sports.
We had 3 yesterday(Spring break) the other is at Disney..in Orlando..I feel so fortunate to have days with our lovely, funny, sweet boys.
I'm with you..every day with them..is better:)
Have a lovely weekend!

I know exactly what you mean that you want to hold, hug and be with your child grown or not! I will be praying for Amanda. She is beautiful like her mother and dad and has a lovely family. Your "little men " have grown so much and see basketball is a skill of theirs.
Your visit to the Water Gardens was interesting. Looks like a nice outing.
You are so right about not taking health for granted. Everyday is a gift from God.

I think that way too often, so many of us take our good health for granted. Thankful that Amanda's test have come back clean and I send my prayers for her hearing to improve. Also, prayers for the headaches that your husband is having. Isn't it so fun watching the little ones play ball? I love being involved with our kiddos and all their sports. From the looks of the photos...your sweet family had a great time on your get-away. don't forget to spring forward with your clock tonight...

Glad to hear Amanda's test came back clear, I will say prayers that whatever ails her goes away.
Your poor hubby. My ex use to suffer from cluster migraines and the only thing that remotely helped was a soft scalp massage. It is so tough watching those we love suffer. I am sorry, Tanna.
Happy to hear you were able to spend some wonderful time with your loves. They are all amazing!

Tears with that last photo and words. So glad you got to be together at this particular time. We need to be grateful each day for the health we have. Those little boys are just so adorable--I guess we should say handsome now. They've grown so quickly ... our basketball is over and now its on to soccer--all three will be playing this year, and I don't think I'll be going to all the games! Hope your hubby gets over those headaches soon, and thankful they were able to rule out some scary causes for Amanda. Sending hugs and prayers.
