A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of attending Emily's (daughter to one of my dear friends, Laura) wedding. She was a gorgeous bride!
Emily's dreams were realized in a beautiful Texas Hill Country setting... every detail was so exquisitely perfect. I only have a few highlights to share, but you'll get the feel... white on white... elegant and fitting... holding true to Emily's dream of a cowboy wedding... with style!
I peeked in to get a photo before the reception... Would you have ever imagined that the inside of a Barn could look so amazing?
And, the message of the ceremony was the best I have ever heard... the minister didn't gloss over how, after the honeymoon, things can be a real challenge. His encouragement to put God first and to have a tender and compassionate heart toward one another was right on the mark. Next to raising children, having a successful and fulfilling marriage is the hardest job you will ever have. There is no happily-ever-after without some effort... okay, a lot of effort... on both sides... and, a lot of help from God.
Meet some of my knitting friends: myself, Kim (wearing a Boo Knits shawl), Laura (lovely mother-of-the-bride) and Sherry. I've spent some wonderful hours knitting and solving life's problems with these ladies.
My beloved is standing next to a giant agave in the pasture. It was just HUGE and so beautiful!!
Just one of the many plantings on and around the Barn.
Everyday. single. day. I am happy and blessed to be married to my Beloved. Witnessing a precious young couple begin their journey together sweetens my own sense of appreciation... of where we've been... and where we are going...
And strengthens my resolve to make the most of this gift... the gift of my Beloved. I am thankful. The journey and the lessons continue.
A special thanks to Emily and Robert and their parents for allowing us the honor of bearing witness to this holy union. May their journey be filled with joy and blessed by His Love.

PS thank you all for your most kind words after my last post... you embarrass me with your generosity, but I deeply appreciate your kindness.

really is a wonderful setting for the festivities! bless them...
It does look like a perfect wedding down to all the barn details! What a fun, relaxed theme with lots of opportunity for creativity. Your shawl looks perfect with your outfit and what a great photo of you and your hubby (I notice you wear a watch like I do--hard to stop after all these years) ... most of all I appreciate your sentiment and the words of love and devotion --- and determination -- and grace that you share about marriage!
Love the mismatched togetherness of it all! And, I too, am blessed. I would marry my little husband all over again any day of the week....and maybe with a relaxed and elegant cowboy theme! Love, d.
Sighing over the sentiments and the photos! All good!
And you look stunning Tanna!

What a beautiful post, Tanna. You truly are blessed. I love seeing you with your good friends and wearing one of your beautiful shawls. Very touching words.
After 27 years of marriage - I know every single word you wrote is absolutely true. Amen! Someone once told me to think of marriage as a triangle. Husband and wife on the bottom two corners and God at the top. The closer you get to God, the closer you get to each other. Beautiful wedding, and you are a beautiful couple!
Beautiful post, Tanna.
Lovely post! Our son gets married this summer and their reception is in a big old barn. Can't wait. We are very lucky as both of our boys have wonderful girls - one married and one to be.
I'm not sure which is more beautiful...the wedding or your words.
You are so right on Tanna....God must be at the center of a marriage.
This is my kind of wedding. Beautiful, elegant, with a country twing. Love it!!

Gorgeous wedding venue and perfectly lovely "details" to complete it. Your words about marriage and relationship are true and the knowing of it comes with years and wisdom...for me at least! Thanks for sharing Tanna and you look like a bride yourself...beautiful inside and out!

Looks like a beautiful wedding. I am loving all these simple country weddings that are in now. We attended one a few weeks ago that was so sweet too. The minister said some of those same things. Great pic of you and your husband also. Love the shawl :)
There you are in your lovely shawl, it is perfect with the outfit that you're wearing. Elegant in a casual way, perfect for a cowboy wedding.
The flowers are gorgeous, and the decor in the barn wonderful!!!

This is, in a word, stunning. So simply beautiful. The words. The event. All of it.
Such a pretty setting and wonderful photos of y'all. My husband is sporting the same facial hair these days. I am trying to get used to it.
Don't you make a beautiful couple:) Lovely wedding.
What a beautiful setting for a wedding! And a lovely pic of you and your husband...
What a beautiful wedding and grand with style. So nice to see your knitting friends, the beautiful tables, bride and groom and wonderful flowers and decorations.
I especially enjoyed your tribute to your husband and the message of the ceremony on marriage. The world could change for the better if everyone heeded that message.
I have never seen an agave plant. I guess they are related to the aloe plant. Do aloes get that large? That one is huge. Great pic of your husband.
