Cowls, Owls and False Starts

I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  We traveled west to visit my Mom and gorged on turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie

Laughed and loved and visited with siblings and nieces and Mom!!

Came home to do some Elf Work and be blessed by lunch with Evan's daughter, Audra and her husband, Brian.

Then, feasted on a pot of delicious, homemade chili with Zachary and Candice and The Girls.  Oh, my, what good, sweet loves we enjoyed!!  I don't know if there is much else that gives me such pleasure as to be welcomed to my children's homes and offered their hospitality.  I think that must be one of my big "love languages".  And, Zach outdid himself with his chili recipe!

Now, on to owls... Well, this has been the year of owls for me and  I  love this little pattern:  Chouette (details on my Ravelry page).   This was my second version... I thought the first too small... now, this one fits Noni... hmmm... may have to try again so I can keep this one for myself!

AND, my friend, Kim wore a beautiful owl-bordered shawl last week and had me all excited about starting one of my own.  Knit this much (almost two skeins) in the car during travels... but, I'm not satisfied with the gauge.  A false start.  Bummer.  I'll be ripping it out, dropping down a needle size and giving it another go.

Oh, the cowl is a Noro pattern: Slip Stitch Cowl (Details on my ravelry page here).

Lots to do!  The Little Men will be pulling into Texas later this week!!  My heart is singing!

blessings to all ~ tanna

Thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones is perfect. Added bonus? Anticipating those little men arriving.

I love the colors in your cowl!!

I'm thankful you had such a wonderful holiday weekend. How nice it must be to still be able to go to your mom's house for Thanksgiving! And the cowl (?)--the colors are so you! Even though I've never met you, I just know. It looks beautiful to me. How fun --the owls for the boys---enjoy their visit, but I don't have to tell you that! Enjoy the anticipation too, that is so much a part of the joy.

As always, your knitting projects leave me so inspired!! I really love this cowl. I think I need a knitting buddy nearby to help me understand patterns, wools and gauge better so I"m not so intimidated to go out and get started on these things. I end up at the store feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all and walk out thinking I need to think about it some more!!

I'm so glad your holiday was filled with family love and laughter dear Tanna. And even more to come!

It all sounds wonderful (except the false start.) I love the look of that cowl. My daughter was just asking her grandmother about some pieces like that over Thanksgiving. (My MIL reminds me of you with her gift and skill of knitting and crocheting.)

My favorite thing, though, is that owl. That's just plain adorable.

I just hate "start overs" but you wouldn't be happy if you didn't.
But what I do like is a happy visit from a grandchild. Enjoy!

Sounds like you had a great holiday. I'm so glad! Love the cowl. Never heard the term before. I have heard them called infinity scarves and they are really in style right now. Beautiful! I know you are super excited about family coming soon. I hope you have a WONDERFUL visit.

p.s. I think you did a fabulous job on the slip cover. Love the pics of your home.

If you need another head to try on an owl....I'm your girl! I love, love, love that hat!
Taking out big chunks of knitting??? Not so much. I handed off the sweater sleeves to a professional friend and I started a prayer shawl...very basic, but being knitted with love and prayers for a friend. As always, you, Miss Tanna, are an inspiration. In a day or two I will post some of the art I have been doing...a few new things for a teeny show this weekend.
Happy days to you!

That cowl is gorgeous. Love the yarn you used. And the owl hat is too cute. I seem to have a lot of false project starts of late. Some can be salvaged for something else, some get tossed to the side, some to be started over. Sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are in for an equally wonderful holiday season. Best wishes, Tammy
