Heartfelt Thanks and the Finish of a Promise

I could never express in words the deep sense of gratitude I feel to all of you who took the time, spent your energy and shared your experience to give me your help.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I am always filled with such a sense of awe at the amazing women, from early twenties to great-grandmothers, who come together in this odd little world of blogs offering encouragement and sharing their great wisdom.  My heart is full.  And, my mind is deep into the consideration of all the suggestions offered.  Again, my thanks.

I finished this Promise Me design by Boo Knits.  Bev, a.k.a. generous-gardener on Ravelry, makes intricate easy, for those of us who love great designs without having to contort ourselves or fry our brains trying to concentrate on the pattern.  LOL!

And, this yarn.... oh, be still my heart.  GRACIE lace by Fiesta yarns.  It is 70% extrafine merino, 15% silk and 15% cashmere... I think it must be the cashmere that I am so in love with...  This was my first experience with lace weight yarn.  It took a little getting used to at first, but it is amazing!

The beading was done by a crochet method, so instead of stringing them and pushing them along, you add them as you come up to them with a tiny crochet hook (USE an addi brand 0.75!!  so easy, no snagging).

I'm thinking this may become the Mother of the Groom shawl... Seems the Sand and Surf may not fit the color scheme, but it will still be fun on the beach!!

To those of you who offered me your wisdom, THANK YOU AGAIN.  I hope I can demonstrate the lessons learned.  =)

Oh wow, such delicate beauty surrounded by richness of color. Is that your MOG dress? :-) Well maybe if it's a beach wedding! The shawl is amazing, I am just so admiring your talent.

You probably don't really need advice, you seem to be so sensitive and caring, being your self would be all any DIL would want for a MIL !!!

Tanna, you are so sweet and talented. The shawl is so perfectly outstanding. I love it. Well done. Susan

Podso, the shawl is on my vintage dress form that has a beautiful mosaic on its bodice and a giant purple petticoat (Dancing in the Midnight Garden by Cassie Edmonds -- www.cassieedmondsmosaics.com). Cassie is a friend of mine and a wonderful artist. Without anyone to help with the photos... Middie, as I call her, becomes my model. ;)

This is SO lovely...I am in awe of what your mind can conceive! As far as the MOL thing..you have the first and most important requirement already, the desire and you have the second too, love...you will be wonderful! :D

Oh, Tanna. That is exquisite. No mother of the bride or groom would have worry about their outfit if they had such a stunning accessory. And it knit up so fast - great pattern. I've always thought that the crochet method is the only way I would tackle beading in my knitting.

I think that you will be a wonderful MIL. The fact that you even thought to ask for advice says so much about you - all good.

Very pretty and so feminine. It will look wonderful on the beach. A woman as nice as you needs no advice. With the kindness you show people you've never even met (like me) I'm sure you will be the best MIL ever! When in doubt, pray about it!

Tanna, I needed to think a bit here and come back to leave my comment but my thoughts echo all the others. You will be an amazing MIL...you're sensitive and strong, with an eye for beauty and a great sense of humour...you'll be an amazing MIL! Just being YOU is all that you need to be.

Both the sea and sand as well as the newer pink shawl are so lovely. As Julie said...I am in awe of your talent!

Wow! You finished that one really quickly. Glad you liked the crochet method for beads; it doesn't always work, like on your first shawl where they needed to be strung, but it's sure a lot easier IMHO. Such a pretty pattern; no one'd ever guess it was your first time with lace yarn! Bravo! Great job! PS We really like the book Walking On Egg Shells: How to Get Along with Your Adult Children. We have yet to have a DIL, but have 2 SILs who are very wonderful additions to our family. Best wishes to all of you!

I don't think you will have any trouble at all with your DIL. You are wonderful and it shows.

Does she like shawls?

This one is so pretty and delicate.
Love it.

It's beautiful! I am truly impressed, a little inspired and more than a bit intimidated at the thought of creating such a pretty piece to wear to a wedding. Well done!

It may not be the color of the sand or sea... but the color of future babies (or maybe that is NOT the thing to say!!)
If you are interested in a custom wedding cake topper~ drop me a line! I would be honored.

Hi Tanna, your shawl is so pretty. I think that yarn definitely calls for knitting. I had bought some lightweight yarn for crochet once but just couldn't work with it. Gave it to a friend who gave it to her sister and she knit up a beautiful scarf with it.

I don't know how you could be anything but a good MIL. Just be you! Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

Love the colour of your shawl - you are very talented. I only crotchet now but your knitting inspires to get out some knitting needles. Thanks for sharing. Viv

Another beauty. A simpler way to bead sounds like something I'll be looking into. I agree with you, this wonderful world of wisdom and friendship is invaluable.

Now, I can't wait to see you in that outfit! The whole thing... Hmmm?

Beautiful, beautiful...and the pearls just make it. I can't help but think of the story of the pearl. The pearl begins as a irritation to the oyster...and then it becomes a pearl...so like God to take something that can bring us irritation and out of it goes beauty.

Either shawl is just beautiful...enjoy, mother of the groom..this special day and the future.

Tanna, that is such a lovely shawl! You are so talented, dear lady. None of us are perfect MIL's, even though we would love to be. But love can cover a multitude of problems.
Have a wonderful day.

Gorgeous. Do you have a son getting married? I've been away awhile...(knee replacement) & the drugs play havoc w/ the mind because I'm not remembering you have a son.
