Entrelac Hat, New Place To Yak and One of My Favorite Things in Rome

Made this Lady's Entrelac Hat last week.  I absolutely love watching the Noro Aya yarn (Colorway #9) work into the  different colored blocks in this pattern!  No, you do not have to change yarns; it just works up this way.

It becomes addictive as the rows near the crown as it moves faster and faster with the decreases!

This side has different color blocks than the ones in the first photo.  Too much fun!

My friends at Rose Path Weaving have invited me to share on their blog, Shush I'm Counting!  So, I hope you knitterly (I know that's not a word, but I like it) folks  and anyone who might be thinking of knitting will join me over there as I do a guest post or two... or three...  I hope you'll stop by and say hi!

I have to share one more favorite from Italy.  ALL throughout Rome there were water fountains; fountains fed by the Roman Aqueducts.  I LOVED them!  You could have fresh, cold water wherever you were.  Oh, how I would have loved these during marathon-training-days (no water bottle to carry!).  Evan and I availed ourselves frequently!  The secret is that you cover the bottom where the water is constantly flowing out and it pops up through a hole to create a water fountain.  How ingenious is that???

Oh Tanna, I love Noro yarns! I've made a scarf out of them that I just adore! This hat is beauitful, although I don't wear hats, it might call out to me! Which color was this? I have a shawl I made that just isn't working for me, so might take it out and make this1

Tanna: I love the hat! When I saw the four knitting needles I was stymied but I'm going to check out the site for knitterly people--no one will know I'm not one, will they? I can see that the yarn would be fun to work with. One hat would do since it certainly would go with everything!! Hard to believe that it won't be so long before the cold winds will start to blow!!

Best,
Bonnie

Your hat is wonderful. I LOVE space dyed yarns. They are such fun to knit and it always looks as though you've been juggling several balls of yarn. I hope you'll continue to keep us updated on your blog about your knitting. In the meantime, I'm heading over to Shush, I'm Counting!
Best,
Susan

Annette: This is the Colorway #9 in the Aya yarn by Noro! Love it! Thank you for asking. I have put that in the post at Shush, I'm Counting, but I will add it to this one also. So sorry. Thank you again. t

Ingenious water fountain design, and I very much admire the hat you made; it is a work of art.

Love those fountains from Rome. I always thought they were for washing your hands or filling a cup. I never saw anyone cover the outlet and make it pop up through the top.

That is a fabulous hat! Reminds me of an ice cream sundae.

I love this hat Tanna! What pattern did you use? I'm not a hugely experienced knitter but this looks dooable...(I think)!

Tanna... that hat is gorgeous! I love it. I can imagine that pattern and those colors as a scarf too. Beautiful. And the water fountain *is* too neat!!

What a beautiful hat! I'm not a hat wearer, but come the winter there's no choice. I think this hat could even cheer up my winter.

I love that hat and I thought the photo of the fountain was fascinating. I didn't know you were a marathon runner. I was a racewalker a few years back. Now I do well to get out of bed in the morning :-). I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

That is one awesome hat! I can see how you'd be excited to knit that little cutie! Are you taking it up to the shop or are you keeping this one for yourself? Soooo cute!

Awesome hat to wear to my grandsons football games...You are so talented and the way you "whip" up these darling things as easy as whipping cream.

Love, love, love that Italian fountain. And how clever indeed.

OK, that hat is incredibly cool looking. I kept staring at it to figure it out.

And I love fresh cold water, too. I wish we had that here!! I'm not flying across the ocean to get it. Too cheap and too chicken.

The hat is a treat - but I've so far only mastered knitting in straight rows with two needles. I still need help reading a pattern, but I'd love to try something like this.

You have the eye and fingers for creating beauty!

Sometimes the Old Ways are the best. The fountain is simple. We all could stop and drink from the past.

Dear Tanna, I love the hat. It is beautiful. You are so very talented. I crochet, but only shawls. You are really good! I too love the ingenuity of Ancient Rome. They were so ahead of their time. Blessings, Catherine xo

The hat is 'to die for'! The style.. the yarn.. WOW! I've read about entrelac but can't quite imagine going there quite yet. So, I am in awe.

And I have to say the fountain is definitely on my I WANT one list... Ingenious.

I am honored Tanna, that you would like to link my post! Of course!!

Hi Tanna, wow! That is a fabulous hat! My hairdresser and friend, who I saw yesterday, is doing a fun knit project at the moment -- a scarf and each row is ruffled layers. My crocheting time is definitely gonna be cut now that school is back. I've barely sat down since I got home from school this afternoon. Will have to visit you at the other site tomorrow as it is bedtime for me. Best wishes, Tammy P.S. we saw similar fountains while in France :)

Tanna - that hat is so beautiful! I can't believe the way the yarn works with the colors. Very cool. The weave kind of reminds me of a lattice pie - but everything reminds me of pie this year! Have a great week and we'll keep our fingers crossed for rain to come your way.

That hat looks like one of my baskets, but I'm sure it would be much more cozy on the head!
You can drink the water? Or you just wish you could have? Amazing engineering with no "tools"....

Good morning Tanna~ The Elizabeth Zimmerman Knitters Workshop DVD, I borrowed from the library. I was so excited to find it! They don't have the companion book which I am looking to order. I highly recommend it! Even when she is covering what you already know, you pick up a tip or just end up smiling because she's so darned cute!!

LOVE the hat! Entrelac is fun to do, but I don't always like the look of it in sweaters. That hat is adorable! I'll have to try one!
