Playing With a New Toy: A Review for Bonnie

Pork Chops with Balsamic, Onions & Figs
Peas & Carrots
Couscous with Toasted Pine Nuts

Bonnie, From A Writer's Kitchen, has asked about a new toy I have.  If you haven't checked out her blog, you are missing a pleasure.

I received a gift certificate from Little Man, his Momma and Dad for Christmas to Williams-Sonoma, one of my favorite places to shop.  I ordered this Cuisinart Pressure Cooker and finally played with it today.  You can sear/brown on this setting.

Saute on the next setting...

Then add it all back to the pot, lock on the lid and set it to pressure cook.

NINE minutes!  Tender and juicy (THICK) pork chops!  I have to admit my favorite part was the plumped-up dried figs! Yum!  Bonnie, I will have to try it for more cooking before I'll give it a grand recommendation, but it is off to a good start!  It was easy to operate and easy to clean.  Did what it said it would.  Can't complain about that.

I'm waiting on a cherry cobbler to come out of the oven right now.  We need some comfort food.  Have I mentioned that we have a tenant with an IQ to match the temperatures of the day?  Humph...

Tanna, looks great. I have always had a great fear of pressure cookers since when I was a child, mom served our dinner off the ceiling!! I am still chuckling at the comment about your tenant. A sense of humor goes a long way. Susan By the way, are you keeping warm and safe?

What time is dinner? Maybe I could make it for dessert??? I have not seen these pressure cookers before. Very interesting. I used to have one of the old fashioned ones with the little spinning pressure release on top. I didn't use it a lot. It was a little scary. Enjoy your dinner and weekend!
Best,
Susan

That looks so good! Cherry cobbler sounds yummy to. I had a piece of apple pie w/blue bell vanilla for lunch today. Sounded like a good comfort food on this snow day!
Your pictures are so vivid.

If the pork chops are as good as they look, you've got a winner--maybe me too! I got a chuckle from Susan's comment. My mother would put food into the pressure cooker and then make us all put at least two rooms between us and the kitchen!! They've come long way. Would you mind trying sauerbraten next? Thanks a lot for being my tester.

What was the temperature in your world today? = )

Best,
Bonnie

That sure looks good and so quick. I wouldn't mind cooking if it was fast. That is funny about your tenant's IQ. I guess they don't read your blog!

Oh, I love pork chops! YUM! I've never used a pressure cooker. I'll be interested to hear how you like yours after you use it a few times.

I don't think I even know what a pressure cooker is or how it works, but I sure like the sound of dinner in 9 minutes (give or take)! Keep us posted on your future pressure cooking adventures.

Mouth watering post! I didn't know pressure cookers had come so far. I still use mine occasionally but of course its a vintage old work horse of one. I guess this one is electric so not attached to a stove.

That meal looks divine! How great that you got a new kitchen gadget. I've heard a lot of great things about pressure cookers. Nine minutes, you can't beat that for some tasty chops. Glad it all turned out well! Enjoy!

Keep the food coming!
Those are some really good pictures. You can almost smell the porkchops and onions.
What's next?

Tanna, those pork chops look wonderful. I, unfortunately, have run out of space in my kitchen and in order to find room for the pressure cooker would have to give up some other appliance. I'm a tad - mind you just a tad - envious:-). Have a wonderful day. Blessings...Mary

Oh wow, I've never even heard of such a device! :) That looks wonderful - glad you liked it. Williams Sonoma is the best, isn't it? I'm going to send you a chicken recipe I made recently that had figs.

Now about this tenant...oh dear.

That seems like a great gadet - are you too young or do you remember the old pressure cookers - they scared me to death.

Now that looks awesome! I can't wait to have a pressure-cooked meal one of these days! And how much better did it taste knowing that the cleanup was going to be easy, too? Doesn't get much better than that! XOXOXOXOXO

Nine minutes?! That is awesome. I had a pressure cooker blow up on me once as a teen, I have not used one since but this baby looks like such a good way to go! The food looks wonderful :D

WOW Tanna...dinner in nine minutes? It looked delcicious! My Mom had a pressure cooker when we were kids but the food never came out all the great. Please keep reviewing this item as I'd love to know if you continue to find it worthwhile as I might want to buy one!
