The Good of this story is the finished product of Lost in Time. I love its big old softness! Like a giant colorful hug.
I finished it a couple of weeks ago, but we have been in a frenzy of activities...
A couple of birthday celebrations, a wedding, a couple of golf tournaments and TWO Old Girls to made ready and re-lease. Plus, several other fun and not fun things. You know how that goes.
So, here's The Bad... or sometimes I don't think it's too bad... then, again, I do. Since our LYS closed, I find myself ordering stuff online... like this kit from Lion Brand, Shaded Eyelets. I'm pretty sure I would never have picked these colors on my own... Sometimes, I hate them. Sometimes, I think they will be okay.
Either way, it has gotten me to knitting again. The Rabbit Hole of Crochet has held me hostage. Ha! I even resorted to getting out my Old School rosewood straight needles (long weaned off to circular lace-tips) to tempt me and change things up. I had forgotten the nice feel of these. Do wish I were more excited about the project. ;)
Then, there is The UGHHHH! Not too bad all rolled up...
But, I just DO NOT like this one. Too much contrast, too quickly. I had so enjoyed the two other colorways of this Shawl in a Ball yarn. But, this one is just UGHHH!
Hope you are all having wonderful, busy summer days! I love how long the days are but still need longer ones (IF I had the energy! Ha!).

I am now down the rabbit hole of crochet, seems I don't want a knitting needle in my hands right now. I personally love the shawls. The firs one is a masterpiece, really it is so incredible. The second, while you may not like the contrast is really wonderful, used as a scarf it would not look as abrupt with the color change because it would not be laid out like a shawl is. Does that make any sense at all? I like to put those projects into a gift bin and then the perfect recipient will pop up and I will be ready. Have a great weekend.
I do not think it is UGH at all...the contrast is quick, but I don't mind that at all. The one above that you ordered...I would never have ordered those colors together, but I do think it is going to be pretty.
You do such beautiful work and I like each of these, Tanna. I wish I had your skill! I wish you a very enjoyable weekend. xoxo
Hello!
Oh you must stop traffic in your creations!
I am sure people stop you on the street and ask about your work.
It is funny..I usually either love or hate something;)
You must be brilliant..I am still trying to make a granny square.
We were away and every night in our room I practiced...still not right.
Great for the mind!
Have a beautiful weekend.
You are too cute - these are all lovely and I bet you can find great homes for them. Your work is amazing and the knitting project colors are unique but very pretty. It's almost beach-like at sunset. Sand and water and setting sun :) Hope your husband is feeling himself again, and that your old girls re-lease quickly to wonderful tenants. Sounds like a lot of work! Have a fantastic weekend sweet lady!
you really are a master of colour!!! That first shawl is truly a show-stopper!!! I really like the other two....and this being said by the 'master of grey'. Before doing something radical...like tossing, giving away, or ripping apart, I would most definitely send your uggghhh shawl to some serious time-out. Chances are real good that when it is rediscovered in several months, you will find it lovely like the rest of us do!!!
Love your beautiful work! So glad I am back to blogging and your inspiring posts! Have a lovely weekend!!!
I wish I could crochet! But my arthritic thumbs would not allow that I'm sure. I do think it's gorgeous!
I can understand that you might not necessarily like the colors of your bad and ugh projects, but for sure there's someone out there who would love to have them. Your first shawl is absolutely gorgeous! Happy Sunday!
The makes are all lovely and I do like the color combination of the yarn that came with the kit.

I think everything you make is so awesome. I know you get tired of me saying it, but it's true. I think all three of the items you listed are awesome. I must admit, I am very interested in the Shaded Eyelets. First, I love the actual stitches, and the way the colors blend into each other is perfect. I love all these colors together. I am sure I would not have put them together either, but once I see them here, they are perfect. I am gonna have to look into this because as you know, I have been literally in the rabbit hole working on my Alice and Wonderland cross stitch.....I miss knitting. :(
Wishing you a most lovely day sweet friend. Blessings to you and yours always. ((hugs))
Those are interesting colors but they look good to me. I would think it difficult to order colors on line, to know the truth of the color for sure. Ah, so much ordering on line. i just heard a bunch more of good closing stores closing--I hope not here, but probably.
Actually I just like all the things you make!
when I don't like a project, I put it in time out and then after a month pull it out and see how I feel. However, there are some that I rip out no matter what, I hate it too much! sorry about the last one :) your work is beautiful!
I love that Lost in Time only got better. It certainly does look cozy! I'm afraid I have to agree with your other 2 assessments as well. Not crazy about the colors in the kit one, but it might turn out all right still. What do you do with the ones you don't love? Take them apart? Pass them on to someone who does love them? What a quandary...love you and your fabulously creative fingers!
Haha. I can really relate to this post. It's frustrating when you spend so much time on something and aren't thrilled with the result. I like that first picture. So vibrant and cheery! I have a love/hate relationship with knitting. There are times that I love the challenge and the feel of the needles and the progress. Other times that I just can't get into it. I can't bear to knit in the summertime. Too much to do outdoors and sitting is not my favorite thing. :-) Have a wonderful Thursday! - Judy
Love your finished crochet project! The other ones are nice, too, even the one you deemed "UGH". It would have been perfect without the orange IMHO, but I like it anyway. So glad you're back to knitting!
Your Lost in Time shawl is incredible! You never cease to amaze me with your projects and color combos. Beautifully done! xoxoxo
