Prayers and Victory...

One of my dearest friend's daughter is starting chemo today.  Really puts all the annoying little everyday struggles of life in perspective.  Tammie is the same age as my own daughter.  She has already undergone successful surgery for breast cancer; but, they felt she needed the chemotherapy, too.

I ask your prayers for her today.

Tammie is an amazing young woman... standing firm in her faith with rock solid courageousness.

She inspires the rest of us.

This shawl is Victory by Erika Flory.  Here is what she writes on her pattern page:

February 16, 2014: Victory: achievement of mastery or success in a struggle or endeavor against odds or difficulties.
And here I am at the second anniversary of successful open heart surgery and six months out from successful breast cancer surgery and radiation.
To celebrate myself and everyone else here on Ravelry who has her/his own victories, the Victory Wrap will be available for free from February 16 through February 20.

I started it in February with a group of my Ravelry friends... and then life got crazy.  Who could have imagined that six months later I would be finishing it for Tammie... in a color I would have chosen for her if I had known...

I thank you in advance for your prayers.

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." ~ Romans 8: 37

Tammie - holding her in prayer as I go about a day that will be full of challenges in the various institutions I need to visit. A day like this, offered in prayer, is so very worthwhile!!

This is really beautiful. That blue is gorgeous and looks so soft. I know she will love it and be comforted by your friendship and kindness in making it for her. Some people are amazing in the face of true misery.

Oh, I was hoping you'd say the Victory Wrap was for Tammie! And you did!! What a perfect present for her.
I sent off a little prayer but will continue sending up more prayers for Tammie.

Oh my gosh, Tanna! I am so choked up right now! Mom said you brought something over for me and to look on here for it. What a beautiful gift! I will treasure it! Such sweet words from a dear woman! I am already claiming "victory" as I have made it through the first treatment. So far no noticeable side effects. They may come later, but I ate a normal lunch and feel great other than being a little tired. Again, thank you so much and thanks to your friends for lifting me up in prayer. They are working!

What a beautiful shawl and a lovely gift. I know she will appreciate even more after this lovely post. And what a story of victory for the woman who created the pattern. One of our young teachers went back to the states because they found brain cancer -- she has had two surgeries, and began her rounds of chemo a couple of months ago. Sadly she is not able to come back to school and at this point not sure if she ever will. Very sad. Healing wishes for Tammie. Prayers and blessings, Tammy

Prayers for Tammie, and for her family, and loved ones. May the Lord bless her with comfort and courage throughout this trial.

Beautiful shawl, and I read her words, and know that she is deeply grateful for your thoughtfulness and generosity.

It's wonderful that we can be there for each other.. with words of encouragement, an ear to bend, and of course through prayers to our loving Heavenly Father.

I will be happy to pray for your young friend. The shawl looks like a loving hug to me and such a beautiful color. I know the comfort that will bring her (first hand I know) … and how providential that you had already started it before you knew who it would go to,

Have been receiving chemo 10 yrs. for breast cancer & recently had surgery, so, believe me when I say to Tammie, that she can do this come what may. Be strong & of good spirits, I am uplifted just thinking of all that the Lord has in store for you.

"Fear not, Tammie, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, Tammie, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, Tammie, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, Tammie, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior." - Isaiah 43:1b-3a

We are claiming VICTORY for you, too! Through the healing, powerful, mighty name of Jesus!

"In a color I would have chosen for her had I known."

Loved that. HE knew. And yet again, He blesses and amazes me with His attention to detail. The Victory wrap was for Tammie all along.

And I can join you in lifting her. A dear friend ran that race last year. Today, she stands in beautiful VICTORY.
