Simple?

I continue to be surprised at how difficult SIMPLE can be sometimes.  I worked on these two simple little eight inch squares over the course of five days.  Seems like I should have been able to whip them out in one sitting.  But, I couldn't.

The same applies to my trying to do an About Me spot on this blog.  You'd think that would be simple... and quick.  I've been mulling it over for six weeks.

I attribute some of that to the fact that my life has transitioned so much in the last decade... and I still haven't gotten comfortable with all the changes.  The "I am..."s have changed.  Most of the "I believe..."s have not.

I believe in God, in family and doing what's right... even when it is hard... and especially when no one else is watching.  I believe that being nice matters... a lot.  I believe that we are responsible for our own lives and our own happiness and that there are consequences to every choice we make... good or bad.  I believe not making a choice is still making one.

I believe kindness spreads like ripples in a pond when it is tossed out... and so does mean-ness.  I believe, if you're very lucky, some people in your life will love you no matter what... and, that some people won't... no matter what.  I believe love needs to be appreciated and nurtured and arduously tended... and never taken for granted.  Though sometimes I do.

And, there you have it... I am stuck again.  Maybe, if I just move forward a bit at a time, I'll get this done.  LOL!  Or, maybe not.  ;)

Hope your SIMPLE goes better this week...

Laughing at how HARD that SIMPLE can be...I love your "about me" you are definitely on the right track!

Tripping over the "simple"...why we all get caught in that...but guess that too is a learning process.

Your "About Me" is very encouraging, and says a lot about the dear person you are.

Love and Hugs

As soon as I saw Simple? I knew it was a loaded question? Nothing seems simple anymore :( I love getting to know more about you. However, none of that took me by surprise. You are a lovely, lovely lady - so happy to know 'about you!'

Very nice, Tanna, just like you. :o)You said it well. I still stand amazed that you or anyone else can knit. It all seems hard to me but that color is absolutely beautiful. A mauve? I love it.

I think you said it all very well. I'm sure there's more but you articulated your about you quite well. But then you do express yourself well with words ... and in the beauty of your art ... and your love of family.

That square intrigues me. It reminds me of the magic potholders with the seam angled across the square. And I wonder how you got the edges like that. Is there a pattern. It must be hard if you had trouble with it. I think I told you we are teaching the "girls" knitting and crocheting this year. Too bad we can't beam you over.

i think you love ferociously and tenderly. you must knit like that, too. :)

I think you are all these wonderful things that your wrote about, plus an artist. You can knit, paint and do anything you set your mind to. Another one of your gifts is love. Every single time I see the happy faces of your family, I know they are filled with love because of you. You are a blessing to all who know you!

I feel honored to call you friend. :)

Why is it the "simple" things can end up being rather a tangle. Seems to happen a lot!! Lol !!

So, you may not be a speedy writer, but you've got good words! All those things you believe? I believe that is why you are so amazingly amazing! So blessed to know you...even in this electronic way....blessed.
Love you...d.

I also believe that being nice matters. I also believe that integrity involves doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

Funny... I haven't thought about my "About Me" since I wrote it over three years ago. I need to go back and read it. I love how you said that "I ams" have changed but the "I believes" haven't. I think that whole concept ought to be turned into a prayer.

And aren't you glad with me that HIS "I AM" ever changes?

simplicity is the hardest thing to attain...or even strive for.....but having the right 'i am' attitudes and beliefs keep you focused. and you certainly have the right ones!!! (I need to adopt a couple of yours!!!!)

Simple, now there's a really scary word! A word that's guaranteed to make you feel bad if you can't achieve whatever skill is so labeled. Whenever, I see a "simple" pattern, a little voice in my head says, "Yeah, right." Great post, Tanna!

I believe that you are as beautiful on the inside as the outside! Wonderful words, Tanna.

Well, I think you said it all right there in a nutshell. I definitely agree that there are some people who are just not meant to be a part of your circle of life and love and that's okay. Your simple projects look exceptionally difficult to me. :) Have a fabulous Friday! Tammy

When I started my career, I began to realize that there is genius in the simple. Those who can take the complex and make it succinct, digestible, and nail it spot-on are a rare group. I so admire them. They make it look so easy. Kind of like someone else I know. ;) Love you. xoxo

Oh, and as for your "About me," you MUST go listen to the new Mandesa song called, "You're an Overcomer." This song is totally you. LOVE IT! AND THE EXAMPLE YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN! XOXO
