In the beginning...
We ripped up the emerald green plush carpet and found paint, tin nailed down over large holes and what would look like hopelessly ruined heart pine floors. Come in: The Floor Guys. Sand. Stain. Polyurethane. Incredible transformation. Like dummies, we did this BEFORE we painted. Lesson learned.
This is the After. I wanted very simple and clean lines. The bed is mesquite. It was custom made for a woman in Dallas and then it wouldn't fit into her house. The platform is one piece and very large. Heavy. Heavy. Heavy. The dresser on the left is my favorite piece of furniture we have. It was a floor sample that I had been admiring for months at Restoration Hardware years ago. I STILL love it. The ceiling fan and fixture are VERY OLD. I'm not sure they were original to the house, but the fan still works like a charm (go Hunter).
The giant amoire: an essential in an older home with limited closet space!
The bedside tables came from The Canton Trades Day. A touch of Oriental. The lamps, I don't know what style they are, but I liked them.
This is just for Kim at Savvy Southern Style and her Before and After Party.

Tanna, having blogging troubles are we? I will comment again so no one will think I didn't care. I love your bedroom. I wish you would share more of your beautiful home.
I love the room, the bed, the dresser...oh I love the dresser. It looks so inviting. I want to crawl in that bed and read bestsellers for a week before I crawl out.
Gorgeous bedroom! Looks so inviting and comforting, just like a master bedroom should be. I can't imagine all that work. Great job!!
What a beautiful bedroom...love your bed!!! I also see you shop at Canton Flea Market...LOVE that place!!
Blessings,
Linda
Don't know if I've mentioned it but we live in a 1921 Craftsman bungalow. Our bedroom color looks about the same as yours. So does the woodwork. The windows, however, are "six over one" and are original to the house. Our next big project will be to start replacing them.
Tanna, this bedroom is just lovely. I love the old Craftsman style homes - my favorite! I always look at your front porch pic on your sidebar every time I come here. A very unique bedroom to be sure and a great look. I don't think I'd ever come out of that room!
What a beautiful bedroom. I love how you have the perfect eye for placement of furniture and choice of furniture and fixtures, etc. Just beautiful. Now, to get a pick at the rest of the house.....you think..... ;-)
Oh my Tanna! I love it..absolutely love it!!!
Dearest Tanna..My Sweet Friend..your bedroom is delightfully GORGEOUS!
I'm in love with every single piece you put together in that room. (Big Sigh Over That Stunningly Beautiful Bed). I too enjoy simplicity..especially is a room of rest.
My absolute favorite portion was the space dedicated to the Cross. That spot for sure must offer such serenity first thing in the morning..and just before falling to sleep.
I've decided when I redecorate, I need to beg you to be my designer. :)) Yes..You are definitely blessed sweet lady! Hugs of Love & Georgia Sunshine, Terri
Absolutely gorgeous!
Fabulous B&A.

What a beautiful room, and you have decorated it so tastefully an elegantly. I've spent some time reading your delightful blog, and I will continue to 'follow' you. Thanks for visiting me and I will send you an email answering you questions.
Tanna,
What a beautiful home! Love what you have done. I grew up with a Tana. I love the name but don't see it a lot! It was nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm not sure I've ever seen just how much work you guys did. Your bedroom is beautiful. LOVE it!!!
I love those old houses. What character! They sure don't make them like they use to, do they? Yes, so nice to find someone in my locale. I'm just across town from ya.

As usual, pictures don't do the before and after justice; the before doesn't show just what you really had to work with, and the afters don't quite reveal how wonderful you've made her look. But, my goodness, how ol' girl has changed. She's splendid now. Next up on your B&A should be your bathroom. Now THAT is a dramatic change!
Lots of love went into this room and it shows. Your pictures are wonderful, especially framed with the brown from your blog.
Thanks for sharing.
Love it, love it! I know you enjoy it so. I agree with Vickie about the front porch. I always look at that on your side bar too. Love to see more of your lovely home.
hugs,
tara
